  1. It's a manual 4 speed 4x4. I was thinking about taking off the front suspension, removing the axles and taking off the old seals (after draining the transmission in a safe container, so that i could use the same fluid later). Then installing the new ones and reassembling all the suspension and axles. I would like to do the job myself, without messing it up and having to take it to a trans shop or anything of that nature where i would be ************ out of luck if you know what i mean
  2. Hi Everyone, For the past three years (giving time, money and opportunity) I've been fixing up my 87 Brat. I've know that I've been leaking trans fluid but didn't know from where. Until i recently fixed the exhaust and could see and smell it burning on the catalytic converter. Now I've noticed its coming from where the axles meet the trans. I believe its the drive axle seals (already purchase new ones). IF this is the problem how hard is it to do it at home and what else should I replace while I'm at it? Thanks

  4. Well thanks everyone... i'm going to try around and great suggestions and links.
  5. I bought my 87 brat about a year ago and only God knows what the people before me or before them were thinking . They like rewired the engine in a weird way with all the electrical components and now there are like 4 extra female plugs and no relays for them but i dont know what wires go where. So if anyone would be kind enough to post some good pictures of their relays and what wires go where that would be helpful. Another problem is i'm not sure if my fuel pump went out or what but i'll start my brat and after it runs for about a minute it will die out. then the engine will keep cranking over and it wont start. I replaced the fuel filter and seperator and nothing also my gas gauge was working now it's not. Any help would do Thanks also if anyone is around the Chicagoland area and wants to help me that would be great
  6. Does Anyone know how, where or what i could do to get Replacement Floor pans and/or wheel wells on an 87 Brat?
  7. Thanks guys for the info and opinions. Today I asked a cop about the seats and I don't really think cops in general around here know anything about what a BRAT is. So he was pretty unsure about the riding in the bed situation. But in the future if i go like fishing or something I'll probably have someone in the back. I really doubt cops around here. They would probably pull me over every chance they would get. Take it easy everyone and Merry Christmas!!!!
  8. Alright I live near Chicago, Illinois and have an '87 Brat...Legal or Illegal, to have brat jumpseats installed and people ride in them? Which I will be getting friday and will soon have installed shortly after.
  9. :slobber:That is one of the most beautiful brats I have ever seen:slobber:
