  1. Waiting to get the light tabs and skid plate tabs mounted so I can powder coat and call done. Weighs no more than 50lbs over stock bumper assembly and is stout as snot. OEM front tow hooks are incorporated into mount as lower radiator support brace protector and skid plate mount. Pics tomorrow if all goes well and friend is able to transfer them.
  2. New bumper to push people out of my way . See http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=114594 for more info.
  3. Sneak peek. 2X5 3/16 Tubing Stout as heck more info later when done
  4. Well fabrication got delayed for the weekend and due to more interest we are going to be doing the front bumper instead. Car gets dropped off tomorrow afternoon.
  5. Fabrication starts tomorrow for the rear:banana:. Will post pics of progress.
  6. I posted there but have had better response over here. Will do my best to get all the options above done as I would like the same as well on mine.
  7. Came down to pick up my Outback and visit the family for the summer, and since I'm out a job at the moment I'd see if anything was down here job wise since my neck of the woods is so sparse. Will be heading back up there shortly to take care of some things though.
  8. 2X8 rectangular tubing yes. SP means skid plate yes? As for stainless, no. Weight is going to be an issue but I'm going to try and keep this as light as possible. Gas tank skid is going to take some work to work with and without a lift as the only mount we can find for the front of the skid is the diff which gets moved so.... it might just be a "bash plate" to protect the gas tank from scrapping. Got things to take care of this weekend and will be getting back on this next week and hopefully will have some mock up pics available.
  9. I talked to my friend today about this and have decided on using 2x8 tubing (don't recall thickness but good) with 3/16 "wings" for the bumper sides. We are starting with the rear first as it will be the quickest and easiest for them to do while they are waiting on materials for other projects. We are going to tuck it in as close to the body as possible without cutting any sheetmetal. It will be contoured to fit the body and the factory trailer hitch and muffler tip will be sticking out further than the bumper (fair warning). Will also be incorporasting a skid plate to cover the gas tank and will be compatable with a lift as well. No rear tire mount though. Will definitely post pics when I have the fundage for the materials and labor and have results (hoping two weeks). Anyone interested in one? Pricing is looking at $450 shipped and coated with a first time group order of 5 or more at $400 each. Post here to let me know if interested.
  10. Kostamojen- Love the Dirt Wagon and have been following it's build. As for it's bumpers, a little more than what I'd like, granted his are for better wheeling angles and all, but a little "naked" if you ask me. As for Mudrat's I'm not a tube fan but definitely a nice bumper I'd just prefer a solid one. Scrap487- Those skid plate/ light bars should not be hard to work out, what kind of car are you thinking? Also, talked to my friend yesterday and he said that the prices were high, especially after getting a better look at what I'd like. Will let ya'll know more when I do, but unfortunately his fabricator is out sick for the week so .
  11. I know there are not a lot of you guys in SoCal and I'm down here for a while and figure it'd be good to meet some more of my fellow Californian Subie dudes. Weekends are good, just wanting to see what days work for all and where all is located for a central meeting area or..... 12th September Long Beach 91 Fwy and Paramount Obispo Ave
  12. Finish it. Wheel it. Find said Hatch or BRAT and buy it too.
  13. Which means it's had a LOT of fun and luvin', what every good Subaru deserves.
  14. I'll be getting on this more next week and start doing some cardboard mock-ups. As for price, the more people interested in this the better, and tube or ARB/ SubaXtreme style. Will find out next week, but guess anywhere from $400 tube to $600 ARB/ SubaXteme powder coated and possibly shipped, just depends on mock up work and fab time.
  15. Sounds like what I'm makin' for myself. Still cannot believe I got it so cheaply. jbbvw- nice Wagon you got there and sic bumper, one of the VERY few tube bumpers I like. Also, the pic in the above post is great background material for the computer screen or Calendar pic.
  16. I am good friends with the owners and lead fabricator at WAAG bumpers and have been talking to him about doing some Subie stuff as a side project and he's telling me to see what interest there is so here I am. Who all is interested and what model do you have? Would you rather have a tube instead? Rear bumpers with spare tire mounts? I personally am thinking of an ARB/ SubaXtreme style front for my 1998 Outback and something like the SubaXtreme rear. Tell me what interests you. If we can get 10+ people together for a group order it would be best. Also thinking of skid plates and lifts and other goodies so think out loud too.
  17. I had a wonderful electrical drain on my 98 Outback for years and one of the guys who tried to fix it disconnected the power lock switch on the drivers side (don't know if he cut a wire or what, I have not checked) so my door does not lock with out doing it manually. Before he'd done that I had locked my keys in the car more than once though.
  18. I know this is an old post but I didn't resurrect it so.... The Limiteds that came with the dual sunroofs were the autocrapics only and it was an option.
  19. Since you are going to lift it anyways you can take the whole front suspension from an EA82 and put it under (will require off-set holes in the blocks) and have an easier time doing the 6lug swap. S'ko did it on his for the 5lug swap as well as power steering if I remember right.
  20. yeah I was wrong, 205/70s are what I'm running. Where would the 215/75s rub you think, against the strut or fender?
  21. Got my Outback up and legally driving again and man is it nice to have it back. Drove into the hills today to visit a friend and he lives on tiny one lane roads with hairpins and steep inclines. Man was it nice to lug around in 2nd or 1st and just crawl around and not burn, slip, or deal with the clutch/ trans. and the extra slow speeds. Also did some lite wheelin and was much easier to get around and crawl with the OEM flywheel.
  22. Doesn't surprise me, this place is EXPENSIVE! I still don't understand how the CA government says we Californians can comfortably live off $600 a month (including expenses) when cheap arse hole in the wall places go for $150 a week. Honestly, if it wasn't for the fact that I have property here I'd be GONE. We are interesting people but unless you make $30k+ a year, you won't get ahead anywhere.
  23. The bidding ended already and if my eyes saw right it did not sell at $1200:confused:. Where was it located and would have been cool to get to have a set. Oh well, at least your smart and realize another project is a bad idea at the moment whereas I keep finding them and dragging them home .
  24. It's been discussed here on the board the joys of registering non-CA in CA. $300 in fees sounds right, it cost me $250 to re-register my salvaged Outback and that does NOT include brake and light nor SMOG. As for SMOG for you, as long as your car will pass Federal SMOG regulations, you are good to go provided it's not a CA car to begin with (sticker on underside of hood if I remember right). Good luck and come on over to Cali and enjoy the high prices:lol:
  25. From what I've gathered, and I'm not all that, but as long as the h/g's are replaced in the EJ25s, they are more or less reliable engines as long as you maintain them, unlike the EA81s and OBD1 EJ22s which will run regardless of maintenance unlike your EA82Ts which malfunction if you think about them.
