Scorpion or King Springs- both from the land down under- sell lift springs for your ride, only down side is it's a 2 inch lift. Maybe doing the springs with Outback struts will work for the 4 inch mark.

I have one on my 98 Outback with a 5spd and noticed a big difference in power above 3k. Originally the car would fall on it's face at 3k and above but with a ebay intake for the 99 Impreza 2.5 cut to fit and the snorkus in the fenderwell removed I can now pull with no falling all the way to red line. Cost was $50 compared to the Weapon R intake that is 5x as much. Check out sl-i.net for more info.

99lego lifted at last.....bumper too! now with STRUT BLOCK PICS!
newsoobdude replied to 99lego's topic in Off Road
That is one mean lookin bumper you got there. Any more info on that nicely lifted white Outback? Would like to get mine to that height when I replace my struts this summer. -
Yeah, lots of fun trying to order stuff from the auto parts stores. I'll order them this week with the Fel Pro # and hope for the best. Now to find freeze plugs.........

Looking to get some new EA81 and 82 exhaust manifold gaskets but all the local parts houses carry and can find are the ones between the head and the spacer. There used to be a catalog that showed all the various gaskets for each exhaust system but that catalog has since vanished. Don't really want to go to Rock Auto or Auto Parts Warehouse w/o a part # because their descriptions don't mean squat. Anyone got the FelPro or similarly available # for cross referencing? Also, anyone know where to get new freeze plugs for the EAs? The stealership is a little pricey for my friend and was wondering where ya'll get yours.

Are we getting pics of the finished car as well? -
Building ea81. for 6'' lifted hatch.

Definitely go with the Delta cams . Did you go with EA71 pistons for higher compression? SPFI or a Weber would be a good induction set up. Do a port cleanup on the heads and intake, add some exhaust and you should be good to go. -
Yes they will and it will provide a 4 inch lift and one firm ride. Hit up Zap as he's the one I got the info from as he did it to his old 96 OBS.

I know a few of the Outback guys on other forums have put Forrester struts and springs into their Outbacks giving them a mild lift over stock and Nipper on here has the AA kit on his Outback. I personally am looking at getting some King Springs to lift my Outback so I can have a little more fun. King Spring lift- AA lift- Forrester lift-

My Company had My 84 GL Towed Away!!!
newsoobdude replied to roadsubiedog's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Man that sucks!!! At least you were able to get it back though at no cost to you though. As Loyale stated be careful with the big wigs, not worth loosing your job over. -
Works for me too. ABSOLUTELY SIC man SIC:headbang:. Wish I had the funding and time to duplicate with my Wagon AND a Gen 1 BRAT.

X2. One of these days I WILL do so, hopefully with a EA81 though.

I've met a few people who have done the square tube drive shaft and had no problems with them. Would be interesting for the fronts though. Put a u-joint on each end for extra crazy abilities and droop.

Granted but still and maybe off topic for DIY but Line X is the best I've come across being a Valet attendant dealing with ranchers trucks. No stains or nothing (I asked off record) on what looked like "sprayed yesterday but not" or not and yes, rhino is good but still stains but I would personally go Line X. Check out Discoverychannel.com(?) -
Got my BRAT up and running but have a "clunk" coming from the front end. Been told by the PO that it could be the brake pads but want some experienced expertise. Happens within 20 feet of driving over smooth road so........ Wheel does not move more than 1/2 inch when off ground and would like some ideas.

New Camera = New Brat Pix!
newsoobdude replied to TheSubaruJunkie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I like your gas door. Did you do that or did it come like that? I'll be doing that to mine as soon as I find a good button for mine. How does next Monday sound for our get together? pm me. PS- your BRAT does look hella nice, especially with the rims:headbang: -
Why are suby transmissions so heavy?
newsoobdude replied to zyewdall's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
ok I'll skip the t-case and whole transmission weight topic and go to the PnP. Porting won't hurt it but don't go ballistic; basic casting flash cleanup is good enough and SKIP the polishing- don't cut back the turbulence as it's good as is and polishing will hurt rather than help so I've been told, unless that is you are going ballistic on your build and trying to get 110+hp.
