  1. I remember back in the day AA did a "high clearance" lift kit for the EAs. I don't recall the specifics, does anyone?
  2. SIC!!! I've thought of doing this with one of the many EA81 Wagons I have access to. Will keep an eye on this one.
  3. Nice wagon man!!!! Gotta see these wing mirrors when you get them mounted up. Like your idea of keeping it relatively stock. What are you going to use for rims?
  4. As far as lifts go, AA is no longer making kits and same with BYB I believe (do not quote me though). One can lift an EA series car 1 inch more in the struts over stock w/o major cv problems, so you can go 2 inch strut block and 1 inch drivetrain/ body blocks. King Springs are a suspension lift, like the +1 inch strut blocks, but use a different (longer) spring. They only lift the suspension up, not the whole car (like adjusting the torsion bars on the EA81s). Not sure on the King Springs AND +1 inch strut extensions but highly doubt the cvs would live. I've searched for a long time regarding lifting my EAs and have found a lot of people who did the 3 inch wish they had done the 4 inch for that extra little front end clearance when doing fun off roading (more than fire roads but not big time). As for the 2 inch, you could do it with Kings and 1 inch blocks but it's a BIG PITA for such a miniscule amount of lift, might as well do the Kings alone, or go with a 3 inch lift to keep it reasonably low. Good luck and have fun.
  5. Swamp_BRAT, welcome to the board and multi-BRAT club. You should post some pics up for all of us to drool over as we ALL love Subie pics especially BRAT ones. Mr. Brat, what are you doing with that red BRAT that was being moved by the tractor? Nice way to move a non rollin' shell around.
  6. I know the EA82 Wagon dome light is an upgrade for the dome lights on the EA81 Wagons and I think the same for the BRAT as well if you have access to one and want more lights. Welcome to the forum and enjoy. And yes PICS!!!!!!!!!! We ALL love pics of Scoobies, especially BRATs! As for all your problems, sorry I'm not much help and will be having some of the same problems as well when I pick mine and some of my parts up after the holiday weekend.
  7. Peanut butter.... who woulda thought? I remember hearing from some old painters WD-40 will make the next paint job a royal PITA but that was 12 years ago. I personally use the stuff from the body shop (not the eraser) or VODKA. Yes, Vodka. Put on a rag and go to town. Used it to remove the residue from duc tape on my drivers side and all the sticker residue on my side windows.
  8. Take a heat gun to it and go slow. You will end up with a ring around the wheel well where the sticker was or that color. To get the stickyness off, grab some Vodka and a rag and rub her down. The alcohol will dilute the sticky. Here is how mine looks with the stickers removed
  9. Why don't we all just bug the heck out of ARB til they finish it?
  10. Finally got my computer up and running again and access to all m pics. Here is the pic of the dash I said I was gonna get. Looks good IMHO and I might do it when I swap my BRAT to EJ, just to make life easier
  11. Glad the thread got brought back hear where it started Kody. Not going to join facebook and NASIOC is ....... NASIOC. Keep us posted and updatedd with MOAR PICTARS!!!! Cannot wait to see the shirt. Going to do stickers to for "Lifted Wagons" or somethin?
  12. That is one neat lookin Justy you got there!!! Now all you need to do is find a way to get more ground clearance under it!!!! What is the solar panel for?
  13. Finally got the exhaust on the Outback redone and tucked up better. 2.25 Inch pipe from behind the cat back, no resonator and just a turbo muffler. Sounds ok and not visible anymore .
  14. I have the same problem on mine and I replaced the struts all around as well as the transverse link bushings on both sides as they were oozing. I feel it I "think" in the steering wheel if I'm going slow enough but not sure. All is tight but ..... I was thinking it might be the rack bushings but I haven't bothered with it.
  15. You'll have a lot of fun when you try and sell it smog wise. Why not just drop an EJ into it and have 130 n/a hp. All conversion pieces are available here on the board through members from the harness to the adapter plate (only two pieces necessary). That and it'll be less than $500 for all but the motor. You are out in the middle of BFE Cali (got a house off Jesus Maria) but I know where an EJ is in a driving Legacy Wagon for $750ish. How far into the Point are you? Have a friend in Volcano with a large assortment of older Subie goodies too (EA series though, nothing newer than an '89). Might want to post this in the retrofitting section for more replies.
  16. Man Kost that made me make a mess outta myself. That is some XXX Subie porn right there man  . Cannot wait to see the final product.
  17. Man that's lookin good! Nice how you frenched the adapter box into the stock 'box.
  18. Ok. My only concern on the lift is the rear end, not 100% sure which way I'm going to go. I do NOT want to alter the "shell" as a whole, but don't mind the "bolt on mods" aka "no welding to shell required". I thought about going EJ but really want to keep it as more of a resto rod and just EJ the Gen2 instead. I have an SPFI set up as well as a Delta Torqer cam ready for my EA when I get around to getting the SPFI pistons and I lost the "balls" when I split the case of the motor I'm going to build. Other than rubbing the torsion bars, do the tires rub bad while flexing and or turning? Acetone and a scraper was what I was afraid of when it comes to removing the liner, that sux.
  19. Those are some nice lookin BRATs you got there. Who supplied the lift for your Gen1 and what size rim/ tire combo are you runnin and do you rub? Did you cut the openings at all? What are your plans for it? Did you remove the bedliner from the Gen2 and if so how?
  20. I know this is an older thread but I'd like to know the answer to the question as well as add I'd like to know the size of the beam that the piece in the original question is mounted to. Anyone? AND, what does it mount to on the lower end? It looks like it uses the tow hooks or somethin'
  21. On my computer that's down I had pics of a Gen2 BRAT with an Impreza gauge cluster in it. Said it more or less bolted right in and it looked really good. I'll see what I can do about getting my computer fixed.

SIC!!! What tubing did you use for the bumper to rack section?
  23. Sell each other your vehicles for $1 plus ________. That's what I do with friends or sometimes just a flat $100, according to the paperwork that is.
  24. Man that is one nice lookin BRAT! Take care of the cancer and update to an EJ when the EA gets old or boring. How big a lift you thinking and what kind of wheeling you thinkin of doing?
