  1. Uhhh... I'll take the shell. I have only seen one ea81 car here in years with solid rear fenders...
  2. You can swap them out. But you will have to and sending units for temp, fuel, oil pressure, speed, and fuel pressure. And you're looking at some pretty big money for all of the stuff neccessary to do so. And then you would have the issue of getting the new speed signal for the computer if you completely remved the original speedo because it is cable driven, and has the reed switch for the ecu in it.
  3. Stating in 06 they all got the AVCS system. At least on the 4 cyl variants. I don't keep up with the H6 stats
  4. To answer your question properly we will need to know what the exact code is. Auto Zone, advance auto, or other local parts stores should be equiped with the code scanner. Go there, they will generally do it free. Get the P code and report back...
  5. Ok... I lied... It was here http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=68357&highlight=wiring+obd%2A
  6. The different plugs just seems to be a difference in year. There was a discussion on legacy central about this subject.
  7. I'm not sure if the rear crossmembers would swap. But you would still need an awd impreza gas tank, and you would need the imp d/s to make it work. Not having abs won't be an issue with the motor swap. Unless you just like having it I wouldn't give that any more thought. Make sure you get the engine crossmember out of the legacy as well, you'll need to swap that into the other car as well so you can fit the uppipe to the motor.
  8. All you would truely need from the legacy is the wiring, ecu, and motor. If you have some help you could get it all out in a day and scrap the car.
  9. Check out the Retrofitting Forum... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=29 There is also a recent thread by Tosh asking the same question, check it out... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=76991
  10. The dohc ej25 is a good motor. The head gasket issue is only repetative if the job isn't don't completely right; heads checked and trued, or not using the updated head gasket from subaru. For any ej swap, you'll need to same amount of stuff. Motor, wiring, ecu, and since you are wanting to go with the awd tranny the trans and rear end.
  11. At unknown rpms in the ea81 hatch, Std no tach(for now), it screams "i'm suffocating you bastard, shift"...
  12. I've been doing the same with the hatchback... Floor pans looked great from underneath. Yanked the seats and "carpet" and found some bad rust hiding from me. It pays not to trust your eyes...
  13. I've seen that happen quite a few times around here in the junk yards. If you don't look around and get it taken care of you will loose your car.
  14. No they are open deck. But they still hold perfect up to about the 300hp mark. With the exception of the pistons the internals of the two blocks are the same though.
  15. Yes they do. The library at www.legacycentral.org has a good deal of info on these cars.
  16. I wonder if he has anything in his head...
  17. Say one off camber remark about yellow and I have to hear about it for days, lol. I've actually been thinking about painting the hatch yellow...
  18. Keep your eyes on the local papers too. I see them a lot out here running cars with bad bodies for under $300.
  19. Oh hell... Theres no way i would let that go...
  20. No need for the RS flywheel. The clutches will swap right over. The ones made for ej25 cars have a higher clamping force in the pressure plate. So that will help with clutch slipage. I read a little more on legacy central Douglas Vincent, the one I was speaking about, made multiple 12 second passes in his legacy wagon with the n/a 4.11 trans.
  21. Out there in subieland you could probably find a running donor car for less than piecing it together. Check the local stuff.
  22. reddevil on www.legacycentral.org was running some damn respectible times with the stock n/a tranny in his turbo'd n/a legacy wagon. I forget what it finally did. You've heard right they don't use the same clutch, but any clutch upgrade for a 2.5RS will work with the n/a tranny. And another benifit of the early n/a's is the cable clutch, less stuff to modify to get it working.
