Towing BRAT 700 miles. Dolley?
86BRATMAN replied to bglombowski's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
NOt witht the stock ea81 d/s, he could undo 4 and wire it up out of the way. But I would consider that work for nothing, but thats just me. If it happened to come undone on the journey, he'd loose all the tranny fluid and need to stop and recover the shaft. -
XT6 fogs on EA82 car
86BRATMAN replied to misledxcracker's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
It was a factory option, my white 86 brat did not have the wiring, but the maroon one I have now does. Still running the original subie relay! -
Asking for more info isn't a hijack in my book:) For right now, I'm using a cut a set of 2wd springs/struts. I cut about 1 3/4 coils out of each, or was it 2 3/4 coils... I'll look tomorrow. I'm going to be purchasing a coilover kit in the future(five lug swap +xt6 struts, or if this rides like poo, and it probably will) I removed the springs, and marked them both at the same time so they'd be even. And used my angle grinder with a cutoff wheel, and wear eye goggles or something, as the disc will begin to disintegrate and throw stuff at you. If you want some pics of the front I can pull it apart this weekend to illustrate.

Pointers on swapping D/R into a Loyale.
86BRATMAN replied to Milemaker13's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I know its possible to do it under the right conditions. I'm merely stating subaru's owners manual. Its not recommended for over 5mph iirc. I'd rather give him subaru's standpoint on it, if he's not familiar with the system its always the best place to start. -
Well I wouldn't worry to much about it. Others may disagree, but we had a 90 2wd Legacy sedan, dad had the water pump and t-belts done on the car before we went to my brother's house of thanksgiving. What dad didn't know is that during the procedure they screwed something up on the radiator and dumped a bunch of stop leak into it to "fix" it. We left from here, and within 10 miles of the house temp guage was pegged out. Dad thought it was a bad sensor, car ran ok. Anyway, long story short, 600 miles later, on the return trip it started singing a 16 valve symphony and quit running. Heads were warped, but still within tolerance. Mill job, new radiator/water pump/timing belt again, hg's and it was going again. Ok, anyways, you should be fine.

That hub was about to bite the dust:eek: I forgot how big your tires were,

Interesting.... I know where a junk yard svx with a good motor sits, and I'm working on buying a hatch. That brumby sounds photo worthy, if your nearby with a camera I demand pictures:grin:

Well I've got the front lowered already:grin: The back is sittin slightly low as it is, new shocks that still have the wire bindings on them Try and overlook the busted foglight. The last time the brat was driven was on my parent's land, it kinda got wedged, and the clutch when to nothing getting it unstuck.

The eg33 will fit an ea82 car without mods, but any dohc ej variant(including eg33 and er30) will need some notching in an ea81, unless you've got a decent lift....(hint hint) All the wiring and stuff he's done will transfer to the ej25, just have to use his existing cam and crank sensors because obd2's have plug on sensor iirc, actually that may just be phase 2's, either way its a simple change over. And by the way, that will be friggin nasty:headbang:

I was hoping you would chime in. I knew you'd done it from looking up old posts. But the old pic links are long since dead. I do remember seeing a single 12mm bolt on each side of the tube now that I think about it...
-
WOOt, Congrats man. Looks like I'll be the last one done if I keep divering to other crap:grin:
-
I've thought about the spring rate as well, since some said it was too soft a ride. I'm considering ea82 rear struts w/ wrx coilover kit(or something similar) to give some more adjustability. I'll have to take a look at it tommorow after work. Its late on this side o' the world,
-
I know the basic principal. I just don't get how to do the torsion bar adjustment in the back. The bolt adjustment is as low as it will go. I read in an old thread or two about removing the ends from the tube and repositioning them. But without taking a look and risking breaking something, how does it come apart? Anybody have any pics of taking the tube apart, or pictures of some lowered?

Hola. Just Bought 92 loyale need some advice
86BRATMAN replied to dedpossum's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
Off roading is wheer you need to be for the stuff of that nature. As far as motor swap, Most popular and most effective is the ej22. Do a search of this forum, or just look at most of the threads. I will say though that swapping motors isn't an easy task. But it is worth it when its said and done, or so I've heard. -

I'll go for thriding it. With a side note. On here, fwd=2wd and 4wd=4wd. We won't mix them. I promise -
Hmmm, for some reason I see the last few posts here to be deleted:-\

Brumby conversion: EJ22, hybrid AWD center lock, SUCCESS!!!
86BRATMAN replied to Phizinza's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
I think he started with a d/r ej tranny, but I could be mistaken, then put the ea82 stuff in there. -
It's not rude, its proper posting procudures. As pointed out to me by General Disored:grin:
-
Well I was just taking into the weekend figure for the trans etc. swap. Not the lift kits. But either way it sounds like some fun to me. Good luck. And keep up updated.

XT6 fogs on EA82 car

It should be labeled. Either Foglight, or with the little D\\\ type thing..
