Do a search for 5 lug conversions. You'll need a donor xt6 and some time. They have the 5x100 pattern same as the newer gen's.

Wrist pins blocked. Shifted cylinder liner?
86BRATMAN replied to Gloyale's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Well that looks pretty bad. If you absolutely have to reuse this block, you could find a good engine shop that has done resleeving before. But money says you'd be better, and cheaper, off to get another motor. -
If he were wanting to make one running brat yeah. But with wanting to have two running with parts swapped between them. His best bet is to tranny and rear end swap. In order to make the already manual brat a turbo, he would have to do a big wiring swap, along with fuel pump, lines, and possibly tank. Then the engine crossmember and full exhaust system. Then he would have trouble with the cali emitions test because of the motor swap. The most logical approach would be to leave the engines where they are and swap over trany and rear ends, driveshafts, and pedal assys. Then do a little fabbin up for the 4wd selector. If he is quick and good he could theoretically have it done in a weekend.

I agree completely. If it is converted, and done right, jump on it. -
I have never seen or heard of this before.

That guy has been going around saying all sorts of uninformed junk like that. Let me know if you don't have any luck locally on those struts.

That is a good point for the distributer hole. If you knew how much force it would take to turn the pump. And compared it to say maybe the force of a water pump from an ej series. I could be just spitting in the wind, but it might give an idea of forces on the timing belt. Care to shed a little light on the new belt setup? Or is that a later installment?

Can Anyone give advice on a brake job?
86BRATMAN replied to beataru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
You can get the tool at advance auto for around 5 bucks. The one I have is a cube, with different sides made for different style. The channel lock idea is ok, but you run the risk of damaging the seal around the piston and costing you more money than if you have proper tools in the first place. -
Only problem I see with that would be pump to frame rail clearance. It would probably need to be behing the head, yet to the side of the starter.

Loyale had the turbo option in 90 only. If it is an ea82 mpfi, its probably out of an xt. -
If it weren't for the fact of the wiring conversion, fuel pump change, fuel line upgrade to efi grade for the 82 you would probably be right. Not to mention that you'd have to change the engine crossmember, exhaust systems, swap bars. And then the turbo's have beefier springs up front for the extra weight, and to improve handling. Mikeshoup just did the 4spd d/r conversion in his turbo wagon. It's over in the retrofitting section.
