Videos of my Subaru in action!
86BRATMAN replied to Steveman09's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I'm with him. And no need to try and insult the inteligence of the fellow members by saying its a closed course.... We can all see the road signs. -
Saw that too! The funny part is your hatch is still taller than me. And the one to the right is much taller than my wife.

Quicky about ea81 --> ea82t axle mating.
86BRATMAN replied to SuBrat84's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
Ok is that not clear.... 4wd ea81 axles plus ea82t 25 spline doj works 2wd ea81 axles plus ej22 legacy 25 spline doj works 2wd ea81 axles plus ea82t 25 spline doj does not work 4wd ea81 axles plus ej22 legacy 25 spline doj does not work DO A SEARCH. I know I asked this same stuff a month ago... And who said anything about the rears. The rear spline size is the same on all r160 diff's found in subaru's till they changed to the slide in style in middle 90's. -
Be my own cherry picker: Really possible?
86BRATMAN replied to DerFahrer's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Oh yes... It can be done. I did it when I was 14. Picked up an ea81 and threw it, no accessories on motor. But just be on the safe side man, buy or borrow a hoist. What's $300 for a good one when compaired to a life with a bad back? -
The favorite all time subie in my book never made it to production. Anywhere that I'm aware of. Only place I've seen it was in a motor trend back in 94-95. It was at the tokyo auto salon, 94 Subaru Suiren. Picture the gen 2 legacy and gen 2 brat having a secret love child....

I wonder how that guy feels being shorter than a subaru...

Well if the 4wd shafts and ea 25 splines work together perfect then the 2wd shafts will not. For the 2wd shaft you need legacy 25 spline doj cups. But the shafts are the exact same length. The process only takes about half an hour for each if you take your time. If your car is 4wd just figure that time into doing the swap and don't worry about having the axles done beforehand -
legacy pully same as xt6 pully?
86BRATMAN replied to SubaruJawn's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Not entirely true. Lightening the driveline reduces the rotating mass. Less rotating mass means it makes better use of what it has. You'll still make the same power it just won't be taking as much to spin the acc. stuff. Also look into a lighter flywheel and lighter wheels. -
Ok, I been read about the EJ22 swap
86BRATMAN replied to palidocaballo's topic in Subaru Transplants
This should really be in the older gen forum, or retrofitting. To be quite honest the most reliable most powerful and cheapest motor to maintain that you can put into your loyale is to ej22. There are people on here that are getting good stuff from the ea82T but that would actually be more work and less reliable than an ej swap. And not to mention you'd still be down on power, and have the dumb two timing belt design, and head gasket issues. Depending on how much money you have to play with. You can go the ej20g route. They are selling for about 800-1000 these days and worth every penny. -
Brumby conversion: EJ22, hybrid AWD center lock, SUCCESS!!!
86BRATMAN replied to Phizinza's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
I was looking at that the other day on mine. One of the big whites looks to go to the fuse box for chassis electrical and the other looked like it went to all the crap for the legacy a/c system. Not sure on the yellow's function, but after I cut out the a/c relays and stuff it went nowhere -
How much is it worth...
86BRATMAN replied to 86BRATMAN's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I'm in Tazewell. Never heard of it, probably not... Its about two hours or so away From Roanoke VA. Near the WV line. IIRC I'm about 5.5-6 hours from Fairfax -
