  1. Rgyver ran 13.02 In his wrx swapped 83 Brat. With 3"TBE.
  2. Are you kidding me..... Thats great stuff right there man.... 12.99 damn...
  3. Over on Leg Central there was a guy who asked somebody at subaru about it. They couldn't even give him a straight answer. But I guess I'm in the majority either way with the auto:mad:
  4. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Roofing tar.... Gotta love it. So just to make sure, care to give a list of everything purchased for the swap.
  5. I'd take the 95. My 95 wagon was obd2, but canada may be different for all I know. It's got a better motor, still non-interferance. And is a 2 port head. And its just a few newer parts away from lookin like a newer car.
  6. The turbo motor in these cars is far superior to ANY motor we've gotten here in the states. Closed deck design, I've ready many sources saying it is the same block used for the 98 22b STi in japan. The only thing I have seen bloing these car's hg's is too much boost
  7. We here would reffer to that as the right side. But as long as we know what you are talking about, that rules out the oil filler as a possibility. I'd say check on the gaskets from a subaru dealer or online supplier like www.subarugenuineparts.com The aftermarket gaskets usually aren't made to the quality of factory replacements. And I've found in some cases don't even fit right.
  8. You should get one of those BIG a$$ subaru badges from the 06+ Impreza and just leave it at that.
  9. OEM gaskets are the best way to go. And I'm assuming by the way you described looking at the motor tha would be the passenger side of the car, right?
  10. No its not TOD. that happens mostly on ea82 cars. The one you have has solid lifters, that are very adjustable. And if they are really bad out of adjustment yes it could very well give you a little bit more power because it isn't opening the valves all the way.
  11. Due to the design of the radio on the gen 1 legacy's you'll have an open space to deal with with almost any stereo install. And the newer wiring is different. But either problem can be dealt with
  12. I don't know too much about it in experiance. I have read up on it because I plan on doing it on the next ea81 car I get. General Disorder has a dead on write up for it here http://home.comcast.net/~trilinear/EA81_SPFI_doc.html He thourghly explains every detain you could possibly encounter with the swap. You may have aready seen it linked here, but I would say its just about all you'd need.
  13. I don't think you'll find anything other than the ea81 dashes that will fit in there without some serious mods. I'm with flowmastered on this one, if you REALLY want different guages and stuff look into the guage options for hot rod stuff. And build a custom panel for them. It is possible to put a good cd player in there without too much effort, but all this goes with the territory
  14. Its all good. And I didn't mean to come off as an as$ if I did.
  15. Sounds like somebody with a loyale got smart.
  16. Well since you know the difference and all CHANGE THE TITLE
  17. It should have had the ea82 spfi motor.... But in short, Yes
  18. Congrats Shawn. Just goes to show that most people don't even know what they are looking at under our hoods.
  19. I hope you got the SPFI intake mainfold and not the MPFI or you just wasted $200. Only the ea82 SPFI manifold will bolt onto the ea81 heads. IF you got the right stuff sounds like you're going to have a pretty sweet setup going on there.
  20. Thanks for the pics. I knew they switched to the clip style, but never knew when. All I knew was that the wrx's and most of the newer had them.
  21. You gotta be kidding me right. My mom has a 98 legacy with 170k, and the only thing even done to the engine, major anyway, has been the timing belts and front main seal. Routine maintanence and away you go. That forrester hasn't even seen its halfway mark yet. Somewhere around my area is our old 90 legacy sedan. Its getting close to the 400k mark best i recall.
  22. Damn, thats a clean exterior.... BTW, who's turbo legacy?
  23. Like hell they don't... Picture from some guy's sounddomain page:www.sounddomain.com/ride/300482 Or this one on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Subaru-1985-Surbaru-Brat-Pick-up-Truck_W0QQitemZ230095028266QQihZ013QQcategoryZ6467QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  24. I know I've seen many sources saying that the 86 model year the DOT made subaru stop installing them for safety issues, I'll have to look that up again Here's part of what I found on yahoo's Brat club ...prior to the release date of the 1986 model Subaru Brat in the United States, the U.S.D.O.T. required Fuji Heavy Industries to delete the rear facing seats in the bed.
