gen 1 jumpseats into a gen 2??
86BRATMAN replied to 75subie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I actually put them on the day after we went yard hopping, i used the three brakcets we found on the 83 and the one i had made with the bend-a-bracket stuff temporarily, except being silver and riveted on nobody would know they didn't come in there -
essentially you can't without mods, bratsrus1 make an adaptor, but shipping it to you would be a pain, one option would be to fit the ej mounts back on it and go something like rguyver did when he put the wrx swap into his brat.... with your fabrication skills this would probably be a good way to go, or maybe GD could post a pic of his ea82 adaptor

I heard that, I've seen a lot of people break their bug eyes at the drag strip launching at 6k, ever since hot rod mag did it with their test mule STi back in 04 everybody thinks they can do it with the regular ones and get by with it. And if i remember correctly that article said the car really didn't like it very much.... I'd really like to make the brat faster than my friends 05 wrx, he has an 04 sti turbo and fmic, injectors and a cobb access port, but i'd rather keep it intact as long as possible, or at least till i have another cheap parts car in the driveway.

You can use the entire setup from a gen one, providing you have the stock gen two headrest brackets and a drill. I had to drill a hole about 3/4 to 1 into up from the existing top hole on the gen 1 sliders. The rest is simple. -
ooops, its taken care of, i usually do better at watching that

Can't get the brake hub off?

quick question re: shifter
86BRATMAN replied to Centrifugal's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
you'll need a straight punch that is exactly the same size as the roll pin, or just slightly smaller, using a tapered punch usually expands the pin making it almost imposible to remove without damaging it -
Radius and camber modification...

yeah torn rubber can do that to ya, I can't tell, what car is that in the first picture? -
It's not too uncommon to find flood damage cars on lots either. But some time back there were several cars damaged at a local ford/used lot when we had a pretty decend flood here. At least ten of them showed up at a small lot and they claimed them to have never been in water at all... After a long discusion I pulled up the carpet in a sebring and showed him what I knew, end of dicussion he walked away mad as hell. Anyway, I check where that speedo 'should' have been, but my dad has been moving stuff around in the building. Would have tried more but a car hit some black ice and clipped a power pole knocking out power on the block until after i left. I'll scrunge around some more over the weekend.

Not to worry then, most people don't even think about that kind of stuff when buying a car. A friend of mine got screwed over on a 00 honda prelude and paid way more than he should have because the odometer had been changed, the dealer knew about it but fail to inform him of it. He's currently exploring his options of suing them because of this.

Lifted EA71 Pics Wanted
86BRATMAN replied to newsoobdude's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
yes on here, also s'ko(i think) is doing a lift/ea81 swap right now, see if he may have some insight for you, -
I think it had 140k or in that area, I replaced the whole cluster with one from a 95-96 L because I the brighton with no tach, might be possible to roll it back to get it close to where you would like it. I personally wouldn't worry about it unless somebody buys the car and tries to say you've lied about the car's mileage.

I should be able to let you know tomorrow night, as the stuff from those days is still at my parent's house, I'll be up there after work tomorrow. I had those exact same guages in my 95 wagon, up until one of the wires broke off, they are somewhat delicate, so take care when handling them near the area the wires go to the actual guage.

dry gas?

The truely funny/sad part about this is that I thought the exact same thing when I read Skip's post.... -
I've heard many good things about these kits, but some of them have a good sticker shock with them. I've considered making the kit myself when the time comes. I'm more worried about breaking the trans when it comes down to it.

In an effort to avoid cutting on my brat too much I have a question. Does anybody know how these transmissions compare in size? Phizinza has ea82 mounts bolted to an ej22 trans case, would this in theory allow me to use an adaptor made to put the ea82 5sp into the ea81 body without rubbing? If it does i could justify spending the extra cash to save bashing and cutting and all that extra work at this stage in the project.
