Dumb(?) 2nd Gen Seat belt question
86BRATMAN replied to catbus's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I've been looking for a set to do the same with my coupe, I found the anchor points when I was replacing the rear window gasket. State law requires 3 point belts for child seats here, so I can't take both kids with me when I'm driving the car. -
Dumb(?) 2nd Gen Seat belt question
86BRATMAN replied to catbus's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
My coupe has anchor points in the c pillars, but is only equipped with lap belts. There were a couple countries that mandated 3 point belt systems front and rear back then. And Subaru being Subaru made all the chassis the same except for the firewall for lhd/rhd applications. -
Having owned an 05 LGT, and replacing the engine, turbo, all four wheel bearings, all four struts, sway bar end links, and the engine again. I'll say I will never own one of them again. They have problematic wheel bearings, the turbo is garbage. And whoever at Subaru decided it was a good idea to put screens in the oil banjo bolts needs to be beaten. If I ever buy a 05+ Subaru again it will be an h6 powered model.

Also 4spd clutch fork is on the passenger side, 5spd is on the drivers side.

Also which megasquirt version are you running?

It's working now. Looks like the Hayes manual ecu diagram. I have a scanned copy of of the ecu diagram from the 84 Subaru fsm that might be of help. I'm not sure how well the quality will be because it was shared with me on Facebook, and it's know for killing picture quality.

Subscribing for future project. I'll take a look under my hood tomorrow and see if I can find that grey wire in mine. I have an 84 turbo coupe, so it should be very similar. Your wiring diagram picture isn't showing up on my end, the others are working though.

What is the cost looking like per pair? Just want to be sure I have enough set aside when they are ready. -
Ea81 strut springs. Difinitive answer!
86BRATMAN replied to BratWarrior's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
You will end up with about an inch of lift over stock height with the adjustable perches all the way down. -

Ea82 rx springs are going to be the best bet for what you're wanting. With the roughly inch lift they give though it will push you into a bit more positive camber though, so it's a bit of a catch 22. -

You have that backwards skishop. Ea81 body's have positive camber stock, and need negative added to handle better. You can fit universal adjustable upper camber plates to dial it in without messing with the control arm length. You'll have to mod the camber plates to fit in the strut towers, and the ride will be slightly harsher due to losing the rubber insulator in the upper mounts. -
I would try replacing just the driveshaft, and shift cable before jumping into a trans swap.

Any mods other than the 2" extension needed, and obviously new brake lines to the hill holder, to mount the legacy booster? I've got legacy brakes on my 5 lug swapped ea81t coupe that needs a better booster/master setup.

Let me rephrase that. They fit. They're the exact same diameter, it's a matter of spring length and spring rate as far as what you're after from the swap. Here is what the 83 FSM has to say about the ea81 springs. This does not cover the ea81t springs though. -

Basically and ea81/82 springs will fit. There is an old spring chart floating around here somewhere. Ill see if I still have it downloaded somewhere. -
Aftermarket axles have a high failure rate in subarus. You would have been much better off in the long run to reboot the oem axles with some fresh grease. It's really not a hard job, a flathead screwdriver, snap ring pliers, and a cv band tool (or something makeshift) is all that's needed beyond the tools needed to change the axles. I would browse the junkyards for a pair of oem axles from a compatible model, 00-04 legacy/outback axles in your case. And run those.

Having a dual mass flywheel in an 02 Forester I'm going to assume you are in a country other than the US, we didn't get the dual mass setup that uses torx bit bolts until the 05 Legacy GT. That said they're not your standard torx head, they use the torx plus head. The size needed is TP-50. https://www.amazon.com/OTC-TORX-PLUS-Socket-Square/dp/B000O846UI

You can find the superpro bushings on eBay if you don't have any luck with finding a vendor.
