  1. There was never a 48mm rod journal ej22. That was only a thing on the 96-98 ej25d.
  2. Fast2 is the Subaru parts catalog system, I've not used it personally because I've always used opposed forces.
  3. There is a thread on sl-i that has the full fast2 system for download, along with instructions on how to setup and operate it. Definitely not as convenient as opposed forces because I use it a ton on my phone, and fast2 requires a laptop/desktop to work.
  4. Well, I just checked again from my phone. Its not working when I type it in, but from my laptop's bookmark it works. Weird.
  5. You must have a 90/91 manual ej22 intake manifold, all other 90-98 ej22 manifolds are machined the same in regards to the iacv.
  6. They will hit the spring perches on the rear, only way around it is correct size tires or outback/forester struts to lift the car.
  7. With the h6 rear brake setup the minimum wheel size is 16", there are some gravel spec 15's that will clear. But your wrx wheels will be perfectly fine.
  8. Your compression calculations are off. You have to know the compressed thickness of the head gasket, volume of the dish of the piston, piston to deck height, combustion chamber volume, and bore/stroke of the engine. Several of these variables are unknown to me. If you or anyone can chime in with these figures I'll be more than happy to calculate the ratio for you.
  9. Stock ea81t compression ratio is 7.7:1, I don't think it's physically possible to have shaved enough for a 2.3:1 bump in compression.
  10. More than likely that's what is going on. You have pistons that poke out of the block about 0.5mm, and a gasket that is roughly the same thickness when compressed.
  11. It sounds to me like you used the ej25d shortblock, with the sohc ej25 heads and sohc ej25 head gaskets correct? If that is the case there is a very high likelihood that the noise you are hearing is piston and head contact. You cannot use phase 2 head gaskets on a block with phase 1 pistons in it because they protrude above the deck surface.
  12. They were 4wd, not awd, and had no special features. They were the same as any other ea81 hatch.
  13. Don't use that coolant conditioner crap. It's stop leak, and we all know what stop leak does. The 10+ ej25 doesn't have head gasket problems for no reason like the previous models because subaru finally decided to give them the MLS gaskets they needed from the start. You likely have a small leak from a gasket, o-ring, or hose that need to be found and fixed properly, not bandaided with stop leak.
  14. The most common upgrade is the vf52 from the 09-14 wrx. You can use any of the sti fitment turbos if you are planning to go to a front mount intercooler, or some of the aftermarket tmics are able to accommodate that style turbo as well. Any turbo that is made for the 05-09 legacy gt or 09-14 wrx is a direct fit for your Forester. But if you plan on running more than 17-18psi you will need to upgrade the intercooler, they like to separate the end tanks from the core at those boost levels.
  15. To fit any dohc subaru engine in the ea81 chassis you have to notch the chassis rails on both sides of the engine by roughly an inch, along with removing or relocating the hill holder mechanism.
  16. The ej22 ecu (ecm, brain, whatever you want to call it) will run the ej25, but it will be down on power from what it's supposed to have. The ecu swap is simple as they both use the same plug.
  17. Straightforward swap, it'll all plug in and operate fine. You will need to swap the exhaust manifold over with the engine, for best performance you should also swap the ecu from the gt.
  18. The head won't work, the 04 and 05 pzev motors have a unique piston design with large domed segments. These pistons would make full contact with the heads. Best option is to resell the engine and purchase another, being more careful to check it out before you hand over money.
