  1. If you need any help I'm down the road about an hour and a half in Tazewell County VA, I have experience with these cars and quite a few spare parts laying around. But definitely classic duty c failure.
  2. The water pump isn't different for the na oil cooler equipped cars. It's the thermostat housing/neck that has the extra port on it. I would recommend changing out the o-ring between the cooler and the block as well as the coolant hoses while you've got pretty easy access to them.
  3. If you want to add another step I have a couple I'd be willing to part with.
  4. The 98 should be rear canister, the transition year for the evap systems was 97. I would agree with Fairtax that the engine, or possibly just the intake manifold (very unlikely but still possible) has been changed.
  5. 5. 98-02 forester springs are softer than outback, the rear struts are also shorter than 96-99 outback. I have posted pictures in a few different threads illustrating this. 03-08 forester is the suspension you want for a firmer ride.
  6. I ended up scouring through a bin of random gaskets at a locally owned parts store and found one that worked for me, knock on wood but it's been holding well for about 4 months and roughly 2k miles. I'll give the oem gasket a shot when we get headers for my wife's new 99 GT after I get the motor pieced back together lol.
  7. Is this only available on FH2 on the xbox one, or is it on the 360 version too? That'd be enough for me to buy my first new game in a couple years if it's on 360. Nevermind, actually read the link
  8. Rear axles are the same for either side, and they will come with new circlips. Any subaru 95 or newer will not have roll pins on the rear, that was only 94 and older stuff.
  9. Welcome, I see you're a fellow Southwest Virginian. Hope you enjoy your stay here and the new legacy!
  10. Take a peek at the thermostat before you dive into a job you might not need to do. Subarus are very picky about thermostats, if an oem subaru thermostat isn't in your motor you need to get one pronto and properly refill and burp the coolant system.
  11. The light pattern can be converted to lhd spec, there is a thread on legacygt.com that covers that aspect of the projectors.
  12. Depending on what the person needs from the car I'm sure there is more than $600 dollars worth of parts there. Seats and doors alone at junkyard prices around me would be close to $400, plus other parts like lights and suspension parts. Rule of thumb I've always stuck with on parts/parts cars is to assume it's all junk unless proven otherwise.
  13. Was he informed that you had no way of knowing the condition of the engine before he handed you the money? If so then it's on him, I wouldn't have paid $600 for it personally with no way of knowing. I recently bought a running legacy parts car for about $325 after towing and all that fun stuff.
  14. I'd recommend any single turbo engine over a twin. The twin turbo doesn't work in a left hand drive car.
  15. What parts are you looking for specifically? I've gotten jdm parts for my legacy through eBay, and posts on nasioc and sl-i.net mainly.
  16. I've had the same thing happen to me at the Charlotte NC PAP, tried to charge me 80 bucks for an intake manifold back over the summer.
  17. Rear as in the rear of the car, my 97 L and 99 GT are both back near the rear bumper of the car. My buddy's 97 GT is at the front like yours.
  18. Now that gloyale mentions the map difference, my buddy's 97 GT is the older style and my 97 L is the newer style, his also has the front charcoal canister and mine is rear. So the change would seem to be connected with the evap systems.
  19. The difference just a the evap system is whether the charcoal canister is at the front of the car or at the rear of the car.
  20. To my knowledge there is very little, if any difference in the tuning for any of those years. All three years were rated for the same hp and torque figures so it would stand to reason they would be the same. There were differences in the evap systems for 95-97 and 98/99, but that's a non-issue as far as the ecu is concerned.
