Do some more reading on Scotty's cocktail, many people are saying not to use it because it causes premature wear on the synchros.

My fab work involved a hammer and angle grinder lol, thinking back I may have had to grind a small section on the bumper support to clear the light brackets. I have that bumper off the car now so I can take a look at it later this evening.

You'll need new rear top hats and front perches to use them. These however are made to fit your car. http://www.andysautosport.com/subaru/1995_1999_legacy/suspension/lowering_springs/h_and_r/ they have the years listed wrong, they fit 92-99.

I fitted 00-04 fogs in my 96-99 outback bumper, it wasn't perfect but it functioned. Bent the 00-04 brackets and slotted one of the mount holes to fit my bumper support. You'd have to fab a small bracket to secure the lower stud to the bumper itself.

It's a vent to prevent window breakage when the interior temperature gets too hot or when a door is slammed. Pretty much everything in the last 40+ years has had them in one place or another.

Flux core wire can hold just fine but it's messier than gas shielded. Gary, do you think you could get your die grinder on opposing sides of that nut to give a vice grip something to hold onto?

No, the heads bolts are reusable.

I agree with Leeroy as well, I've been driving manuals since I was 11 years old. There hasn't been one that I haven't just sat at a traffic light and held the clutch in. This hasn't happened to me in 20 years. And I've broken my share of stuff along the way.

My phone won't play the video, but if it is a wrx swapped brat it's not the first and it won't be the last. The Australians have had wrx powered brats running 10 second quarter miles for 10 years lol.

The turbo transmission is different from the non-turbo cars. I have always put my faith in this forum, but dedicated information on the turbo legacy along with a huge group of owners can be found at bbs.legacycentral.org

Buy one of the cheap knock sensors on eBay, and search for "knock sensor 101" on this forum for a great write up on installation.

Knock sensor, also there are no spark plug grommets on the phase 1 ej22e so oil there is not an issue.

Right, do not try any more to rotate it. I had an incident when timing one of these, when going to rotate the engine after timing it, that the tensioner hadn't fully extended and it allowed the crank to turn several degrees without the driver's side intake came turning at all.

It shouldn't take that much force to rotate the motor at this point. If it were me I'd put the crank back to its timing mark, quadruple check every mark and go from there. The dohc motors can be a pain when it comes to timing belts.

Yup, what he said. You'll lose a little bit of power due to the drop in compression, but nothing drastic. Also just a side note, I might be interested in purchasing the pistons from your bad engine.

Passenger's side of the manifold, bolted to the back, it has a 1" black hose running from the intake pipe to it. -
The STi gasket doesn't raise compression by a whole lot, going off memory it puts it up to 10.4:1 which with the way the ecu is tuned on the 251 is still ok on regular. I'm going to be repairing my mom's outback the same way this summer. You're results could be a combination of things, like a thinner hg and carbon build up on the pistons and chambers.

^^^ for what it's worth my rear diff was swapped with the back tires on ramps.
