Frankenmotor: 2.5<2.2 heads single port vs dual ports
86BRATMAN replied to MilesFox's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
I've read it all, and the pistons I showed are ej222, it doesn't have 12:1 if you could read you'd understand what I was saying. There is no way possible with a 10cc dish piston, and a .8mm head gasket and a 41cc chamber that you can get the 10:1 compression ratio they came with stock. It is physically impossible. -

Side by side comparison is my source. That and simple math that this ej222 piston Which has a 10cc dish at -.4mm piston to deck height, with a. 8mm gasket and a 41cc combustion chamber would have over 12:1 compression. I don't have any pictures, but I bought a 99 L wagon a few years back that had bent valves because the timing belt went. Used ej251 heads on it and compared the two while it was apart. Btw Brian, the twe compression calculator has absolutely no information on the ej222 or the ej22e for that matter. -

The thing is, p2 ej222 heads and p2 ej251 heads have the same combustion chamber volume, so you really aren't making a frankenmotor with them. -

Back in the 90s the Gt wasn't a turbo car. Just a sporty look and an ej25d under the hood. -
Take the time to replace the timing belt and idlers, and being an ej25d I'd do the head gaskets while I could do them easily. After all you're putting another head gasket monster back where one came from.

Yeah, I guess you just need to know how to search. Because that is gasket is completely wrong. I'll just leave that there for future reference, it's also helpful to call a company at times when you can't find something. They also list the wrong gasket for the standard ej22e, but they do make the proper one if you know what you're looking for. I know it's not an easy listing to find, but don't tell a guy that helped get them made they don't exist.

Hi, another question- ej25 valves
86BRATMAN replied to xs-sxs's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Ej22e heads will bump your compression significantly, near 11:1. Research high compression frankenmotor for more information as to what you'll need to set one up. You'd need a complete donor ej22e to source everything you'd need for the conversion, there is the possibility of swapping on 96 ej25d heads as these are hla heads but that will drop your compression ratio to about 8.5:1 great if you want to turbo it but probably not the most economical option. -

No, the heads are completely different. Nothing from them interchanges. -
center console wiring harness, extra plug?

Can't say specifically for the ea82 cars, I was speaking more for the ea81 body cars. -

It's pretty much like that, the gl's that I've seen have a pretty standard body front body harness and dash harness, the dl's are the same way, from dash back it varies depending on body type. -

There would be a relay on a vehicle equipped with the defroster, it's probably not there on yours bit could be installed.
