  1. Remove the hood for extra clearance, and pull the radiator. I've done a clutch on an XT without ever pulling the engine completely from the car lol.
  2. Personally I'd swap the roller assemblies and cams to the dual port heads and get the best of both worlds.
  3. Look on the VIN plate under your hood, drivers side strut tower, and near the bottom of the plate.
  4. The 01 will be a sohc just like yours. Like mentioned, may have to swap intake manifold and cam gears, but check them both out closely. Shouldn't be a difficult conversion at all.
  5. He's doing a gen 2 brat, but anyways, rguyver use to have some pictures of his 83 wrx brat. I might have them saved on my old desktop since his hosting site appears to be gone. Best of my memory you take about and inch and a half out of each side at the rear of the heads and plate it back up.
  6. As I said before, any swap is going to be a pain in the a.s.s due to the canbus system. If you don't know what that is read up. This is not as simple as a you think it is, even with a whole donor car at your disposal.
  7. Oh, since I just saw your last post, the post 99 sensor will work too. I get you on the temperature tho, it's been a cold winter in VA too. I've got a could extra engine harnesses laying around as well as sensors I could ship and ship.
  8. The new style sensors will swap over. I've done it before when I had an engine go down in a 95 wagon. If you're going to switch it out to the newer one make sure you grab the plug and a few inches of wiring to make an adapter harness.
  9. Haha yeah, I would feel bad about it if he wasn't one of those guys that will brake check and scream like a girl if someone sleeps while he's driving.
  10. I feel you there, I've had enough winter this year. Me and a buddy went and got him some doors for his 97gt and me a scooped hood, the high was 16 and while we were getting the parts it dumped about 3 inches of snow on our heads. This one was classic white, we were rolling down the highway, him half asleep in the passengers seat and I just started yelling "postal POSTAL POSTAL" I honestly think for a second he thought I wanted to murder someone, then he saw the wagon lol.
  11. Seems like she has good pull and smooth power delivery. Oh and I have to retract my statement about never seeing a second gen postal wagon. I passed one this morning going to get some parts lol.
  12. Good deal. I'm also on SLi under the same username. If you were closer I'd be up for doing it, between me and my friend we could have you swapped out in a weekend.
  13. I've been using a 1/4" round bar, about 2 foot long, and knocking the pins out from the opposite side. You can get at it just right between the opposing rod and the pin hole and knock it out with any hammer. So much easier than the old modified battery j hook and cheepo slide hammer lol.
  14. Well that makes me feel better about the one I bought lol. Funny about the stock manifold, somebody must be doing an engine swap nearby lol.
  15. So there is a noticeable difference with the header? I've seen a bunch of people say there isn't, just the distinctive sound we all know and love.
  16. check in on sl-i.net as well, there are a few helpful members in that area who could be point you in the right direction.
  17. Sounds like your distributor. I've seen the jumping tach a few times, there's a bushing the on the distributor that wears out over time and causes that.
  18. Good score, any idea what strut bar that is. The impreza one I have hits the hood and it's bowed a little bit from it.
  19. Does anyone know the official combustion chamber volume of this head? I've seen either 50cc or 53cc posted on the internet, but nobody has posted anything concrete. So has anyone out there actually cc'd this head, or know where I can find something from subaru stating the specs for it?
  20. This online dealer shows a listing for it http://subaruonlineparts.com/repair-parts.php
  21. Well I ordered it about 10 minutes after you posted the link for it lol. For $13 shipped it's definitely worth it to me to keep an eye on the engine's vitals. I've just gotta get the guages I want to run picked out and on the way lol.
  22. So an interesting thing I found today, got my oil galley adapter in. It's almost an exact replica of the factory adapter for the idiot light switch up front lol.
  23. Top one is the 97-99, shim on bucket heads similar to the ej20r/k bottom is the 96 only hla bucket heads similar to the ej20g/h
