  1. No Mugs, phase 2 is only 99-01 for the ej22. But being a 00 model car you'll run into some other issues running phase 1manifold off phase 2 ecu.
  2. For the ea82 crossmember it strictly depends on which style ej mount you have. There are some with and some without the nubs, without nubs no need to drill.
  3. Phase 2 ej22 heads have the same combustion chamber size as ej251, won't make a bit of difference to the compression ratio. But will make it so you don't have to change the exhaust manifold.
  4. Yes we used the 25d rods, it was a 97 shortblock and they went in no problem. No protrusion from the cyl like the 25d normally does. The 99 25d uses the same pistons as the 97/98, as long as you're sure the pistons are 251 then you are good. Use some STi head gaskets and 25d heads and enjoy high compression.
  5. They'll fit just fine as long as you match a to a and b to b, I've actually done this with a 25d block. btw, "a" is bigger than "b" you've got it backwards above
  6. No I haven't done it yet, I'm still on the fence about it honestly. The msd coil is one made for a Neon, to make it work you have to get a pig tail from one and splice it together with a pigtail from the subaru to make an adapter harness so it's plug and play.
  7. Here's the thread about egr http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/137829-using-a-non-egr-engine-in-subaru-with-egr-exhaust-gas-recirculation-valve/?do=findComment&comment=1160910
  8. Glad it worked out as well. The thread he speaks of is the one I linked earlier.
  9. Tip on cell phone and opposedforces.com, I had the same problem, opera mini browser let's me view it correctly
  10. Winterforces are a great snow and ice tire. We ran them 2 winters ago on the delivery truck at work, 2wd ranger, I had no trouble at all getting around with them. Another really good snow tire is a Mastercraft Glacier-Grip if you have anyone who sells them in your area. They're made by Cooper, so probably anyone who sells Cooper should have a line on them as well.
  11. The system shouldn't be that hard to completely remove. Get your head up under the dash and find the 4x6x1 black box with the wires attached to it. Track each of them down to their respective taps and disconnect them. I recently swapped the keyless entry from one legacy to another, it can be a little time consuming but nothing that can be done with simple tools and some patience.
  12. No. Your 97 is still phase 1, it is the revised version with slightly higher compression. Changing to the earlier heads will keep it as an interference engine because it was the piston redesign that made it that way. The phase 2 didn't start until '99.
  13. If you're talking about using the ej25 manifold on the ej22 it won't work. The only manifolds that you can use are 95-98 ej22 equiped with egr.
  14. You will need to use your ej25 throttle body at the very least. Best bet would be to swap over everything between the two manifolds. The simplest way to do this conversion would be to find a 95-98 ej22 complete intake manifold, with egr because your ej25 has it and the 92 ej22 does not. There is a thread in the USRM section outlining how to work around that problem, check it out http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/137829-using-a-non-egr-engine-in-subaru-with-egr-exhaust-gas-recirculation-valve/?do=findComment&comment=1160910
  15. I bought a 97 needing a bit of work a few months ago. Had rust on the quarters, maf and knock sensor were bad, but the interior was spotless, had 216k miles, keyless entry, fogs, and all original. I paid $300 and drove it home.
  16. Since you have a complete ej25d to begin with, like I did, you'll see what I'm talking about on that bracket. I may have it backwards been a few months since I built mine and a lot of stuff has gone on in between lol. Basically, anything when the long block is done it should look exactly like the 25d did.
  17. My first 86 had the brackets pop riveted to the body.
  18. Looks like a 94-96 to me lol. Oh and to the coolant pipe for the ej25d heads, you'll need the one from the water pump that feeds to the heater core. Thats the only one that needs to be changed. The bracket that hold the timing belt tensioner will either need to be modified, metal tab that the bolt goes through to the ej22 timing cover needs to go away.
  19. Shoul be right at the same weight as the ej22 shortblock. I can lift both of them with about the same effort.
  20. Don't forget to sheck out the back brakes. I had a hell of a thump thump with my brakes, replaced the front rotors twice thinking I had gotten a bad set, thank goodness for parts warranty lol. But it ended up being the back side of the rears that were absolutley trashed.
  21. You know that injector link is per injector pricing right?
  22. Your outback must have had the "security upgrade" package. The standard keyless entry system doesn't affect starting, just flashes the hazards and such. If you didn't damage any wiring in removing the system I'd be interested in purchasing it from you.
