  1. I'm going to have to pull my order for the pair, had some stuff come up, and we'll, money needs to go elsewhere.
  2. I did some reading on legacygt.com been a few people who have lowered their 5th gen outbacks using legacy stuff. It's safe to assume it'd go the other way too.
  3. I've not seen anything on any of the forums I frequent talking about lifting them. I'd say the general rules still apply though.
  4. no intercooler stock on the US market turbo legacy, look for hood scoop, different front bumper, and usually the spoiler, all had 15" rims stock as well.
  5. There is a perfectly good reason lol, I parted out an auto brat and thought it might come in handy just in case. I have no idea its condition other than the brat had around 90k miles, a seized engine, and no rear frame to hold anything up lol. I packrat stuff when I have the opporatunity. As far as shipping it, I don't have a problem with that if you wanted to do the leg work. I can provide an address and fork lift loading for pickup. And can probably get ahold of a good pallet, banding straps, and shrink wrap.
  6. If you weren't so far away I'd give you the 3at in my basement to get it out of the way.
  7. It all depends on what you use to lift your car, what do you plan to use?
  8. check the strut to body clearance, I bet it's like mine was, 98 outback struts and forester springs, had to hammer the inner fender right behind the strut with my mini sledge to get clearance, then the top bolt slid right in
  9. on the rear of my 97 I had to hammer the inner fender right behind the strut, the spring and perch were pressed up against the metal and made it hell to get in, once flattened out enough everything went together perfect
  10. love to, but I don't have any pictures of the process. it's been better 6 years since I've done it.
  11. Had this same conversation with my buddy the other day lol, we put a 94 ej22 in his 97 2.5GT and is getting tired of the CEL. Really the best place to put it is in the iacv line in my opinion.
  12. if you put the egr feed into the pcv lines you would be pulling oily air into the motor
  13. I got one of them on the preorder sale a few months back. Very nice shirt. I didn't realize they did another run of them or I would have got another.
  14. On my push button 4wd XT I had to lay under the car about halfway back to get to the 4wd lever when mine was stuck. I had ran it as a rwd for a while when I was broke and had a bad axle.
  15. I've been looking for a used STi catback for cheap, I figure the 2.5" would be right nice for this motor, with some headers and deleting the second cat. Depending on how the cop install goes, I'll post up a thread on the conversion.
  16. Doing a franken motor will actually give you a nice power bump, you should have all the power you need to pull around those grabbers. I'm feeling your pain to an extent on my 97 legacy, the grabbers are a fairly heavy tire and definately pulled my car down more than I expected it to.
  17. I know you have the exhaust, what sort of ignition mods do you have? I've been reading over some of the coil on plug conversions on nasioc and rs25. Ordered a set of 02 wrx cop's for cheap just to play around with it.
  18. I didn't see any mention of whether or not the thermostat had anything on it, just trying to cover any potential problem bases. There should be no real damage done to the engine by running no thermostat for a short while, I wouldn't recommend prolonged running without it though. But I've seen it done to mask the overheating on a blown head gasket ej25 a few times in my life, usually when they are being sold or traded.
  19. The power mode mod is on my list, I don't have any extra harnesses around to get the right size pin from currently(waiting on a trip to the salvage yards). Also waiting on the cometic gaskets to show up, were back ordered when I ordered them. I've got 6 left over pistons, ended up buying 10 to get a full set of "B"s for my block, if you decide to do another they probably aren't going anywhere lol. I've been over your build tread a few times on one of the other forums, quite impressed by your fuel mileage results.
  20. Broken ring land, were there any performance mods done to the car? Its a problem in the STi's when you start making a decent bit of power. I've not seen a piston broken by overheating, you would have had other problems before this reared its head.
  21. It almost sounds like there has been some stop leak or something ran in the car, was there any kind of build up on the thermostat when you took it out? Did you refill the engine through the top radiator hose into the engine or just fill the radiator. You could still have some stray air pockets in there.
  22. I'm in the process of building an ej22, with eg33 pistons and 97-99 ej25d heads. By the calculations I should have 10.4:1 compression ratio, and the better flowing dohc heads. No idea what kind of power it will make, but it should be fun lol.
  23. you can, but what sort of issue are you trying to circumvent by removing the thermostat?
  24. I don't remember specifically on the ea82, but the ej engines use gasket glue on the oil pumps. It is far superior to any cork gasket material.
  25. Here in Virginia it's illegal to sell a used cat (at least for a salvage yard), it's also illegal for a shop to install used ones. I am not sure if it's federally or locally regulated. But that's the way it is here, if you can find someone who is parting one out and you can do the work yourself you should get subaru cats back on there. What symptoms were presented initially to warrant replacing the cats? I've never gutted subaru cats, but other makes running obd2 will throw a cel when it's done. I have no reason to believe ours would act any different, so you'd still have to run the spacer if you gutted them.
