Clocking torsion bars (Gen 2)
86BRATMAN replied to the sucker king's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yeah, the arm pulls off the end of the bar. It's possible to do it while still in the car as well. I did just reclock the outer side, not both like you are talking about. It rode pretty well, could have been better though but it was very livable. But I never had any trouble with it, and I drove the car as hard an one can an ea81 4 speed with cheapo tires. -

on my 87 hatch I lowered a few years ago I used a generous amount of pb blaster and a rubber mallet, might have to hold the bar with a vice and hit on it till it gives up -
wow, that looks like a solid foundation for cheap, congrats can't wait to see what you do with it.

just so you know, the thought that subaru copied volkswagen is completely false. the horizontally opposed design subaru drew inspiration from was the old Goliath http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/115952-something-unusual-1958-goliath/ -

the hub is definitely needed as well, basically anything that is bolted to the trailing arm needs to be swapped over. -
Radiator hose question - swapping 2.5 to 2.2
86BRATMAN replied to heartless's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
the difference may be because you're 2.5 car in this case is a forester, I can't think of any reason they would be different otherwise. -
did the ecu I sent end up being what you needed?

a 99 forester should be an ej25 engine unless it had been swapped before. it will be a pretty straightforward swap onto any 99-04 forester, impreza the except wrx) , 99 legacy (non gt or outback) or 00-04 legacy (non h6) there may be some slight variations in those ranges such as egr systems, but it will work

I've seen quite a few of the fender mirror sets on ebay. -
What did you use to clean that engine. Turned out really nice. Goood luck with the adventure.
