  1. definitely not much different , it was a boring day at work yesterday so I spent over an hour watching crash test videos lol
  2. If you go to youtube and look at their other videos they do a few older subarus. Most of which look like they would hurt equally. And I also no longer believe the spare tire would help anything, you can clearly see the dashes being shoved into the passenger compartment by the spare.
  3. I'm not familiar with the diesel motors at all as we never got them in the states. My first thought would be a head gasket issue
  4. Holy crap man, glad you're ok. That could have ended badly.
  5. Been a long long time since I've seen an odometer read that high.
  6. the great part about subaru and their parts is those mustache bar bushings and stuff are virtually identical to what they use on the 90s legacy/impreza rear suspension
  7. that particular bolt is of no real concern. it is one of 3 or 4 that hold the tensioner bracket to the front of the engine. it's also highly unlikely that particular tensioner has failed in my experience, and most on the forum that it's the one everyone wants.
  8. no, it's a complete engine redesign they did with the 99 ej22, not only is it the engine itself, it's the electronics that run it. All ej22s that we got here were sohc. But the 99 legacy ej22 is as different from the older ones as the phase 2 ej25 is.
  9. I'm pretty confident it will fit in the back of the Taurus, I've had a Toyota w56 trans with t-case in the back of my legacy sedan with little issue and it still had the shifters installed making it a little taller than an ej. The Taurus in those years was about the same trunk size if I remember correctly.
  10. just remember that's the phase 2 ej22, the older ej22 isn't a direct swap into this car. looks good tho, good luck
  11. no, but all turbo and ej25 cars of this era will be hydro, what you're looking for will have to come from an ej22 car, or you'll have to convert to a hydro clutch system. The latter is probably the more difficult as I don't think a cable trans has the mount point for the slave cylinder however, if you go with the gt-b pedal box, and source a usdm ej25 trans you'll have a 4.11 front diff to match the auto rear diff, 95-99 ej22 manuals are 3.90 ratio and the auto is 4.11
  12. would you like one of us to hold your hand while we're at it?
  13. I think that just means its an ej22, looking on one of my parts suppliers site the only option for a 95 is vin code "6", is this a place you could call and ask for the vin of the vehicle? I'm not sure what year they started but I've seen on a couple 96's I've pulled apart that the full vin in on the RH side bellhousing area of the engine.
  14. the ej22 would run fine with the dohc ecu, people do it all the time in this swap my calculations say that you'll be looking at 9.1-9.3:1 compression depending on the year of the donor ej22 with 97-99 ej25 heads im going to build one of these as soon a I get the heads from Gary, but I'm trying to run down some SVX pistons, that will put it at 10.7-10.8:1 compression
  15. Depends on which H6 you're talking about. The SVX eg33 is belt driven, the ez30 and whatever the 3.6 code is have a chain.
  16. there is no difference in width front to rear stock, but if you swap out the suspension with xt6/legacy stuff up front for 5-lug you end up being wider, especially if you go the route of putting an ea82 crossmember in. They end up having a 2 inch wider track width in front than the rear.
  17. my ex had a 2000 model celica with that same 1zz-fe engine, it ran great on 87, as does my 5mge celica supra, and my legacy. I'm pretty sure that different countries use different rating scales for octane
  18. thanks for looking into this option, should also help out some of the 5 lug swap ea81 guys (like what I intent to use these for) with the rear wheels sitting in the wheel well farther than the fronts. I figured I'd post that here to keep from cluttering up the other thread,
  19. I'd be interested as well, hardware not an issue either.
  20. I'm in a 97 legacy, but the pricing is still relavent for my state. At least the area I live in the state. The 87 ocatane is currently $3.22 USD per gallon, yearly state inspection is $16, my county requires a $10 decal to signify you've paid property taxes on the vehicle which for the legacy yearly taxes are about $50. Insurance runs me about $40 a month for limited coverage.
  21. You'll need to bolt on the idle air control valve from the ej25 onto the ej22 manifold. There is something screwy with the 90 ej22 iacv, can't remember what right now though.
