Should be noted that the head gasket issue is most prevalant in the ej25 engines. As he doesn't mention a year or model, the ej22 in the non outback non gt late 90's legacy is really what I would recommend. Don't get me wrong the ej25 is not a bad engine, just a little more to think about with them.

believe me, there is almost always interest in nos parts -
Well If you would listen to the sound in the video you would know it is not piston slap. It is indead a knock, I had one do this in a 95 legacy a few years ago. I just ran it till it blew up and had another one handy when it finally decided it had enough. I can't tell by the video, but if your car is a 96 up then to use the 90 engine you'll have to swap to a dual port exhaust manifold and either way use your original intake manifold and sensors.

good luck, may you're coupe dreams come true

Vote on your favorite BRAT!

That does look damn nice, I'll be preordering on payday. -
if you'll go to http://www.indysworld.com/80s/general/literature/brochures/brochures-80-89.html and look at the picture for the 85 GL Brat, you'll notice under the pic is says halo twin roof only available on dual range models, it's the only place that says specifically, it's also in a year where the DL model didn't exist. so that leaves auto brats without t-tops.
-
not all GL brats had t-tops http://autosalesleonard.tripod.com/trucks_84brat.htm Just one example of a rare breed, but trust me I've been around subarus for all my life, they do exist.
-
I've seen GL auto non t-top brats online for sale before, few and far between though
-
yes, they were available in automatic non turbo, is this going to be one you'll be selling at a later date?

91 Loyale with this for oil.
86BRATMAN replied to Dinky26's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
the good part of this is that the bearings didn't technically sit in the coolant mix, unless the engine was grossly over full. -
i may be wrong, but it seems that i read somewhere that the phase 2 ej22 and phase 2 ej25 intake gaskets were interchangable, if that is true then the phase 2 ej22 manifold would be an option

its not a question of you, I don't currently have another vehicle to drive while the swap took place, at least not without putting the gen1 forester stuff on my car for a few days. Pm me and we can talk if you want. -

If I could afford the downtime I'd swap you for my Legacy L stuff. -
I think we need to get Loyale 2.7 Turbo to scout the yards down in his neck of the woods. They got carbed ej22's and D/R AWDs there.
