86BRATMAN Meets Durania717 (Big Pics)
86BRATMAN replied to Durania's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
It was a really pretty day in Tennessee, and an absolute pleasure to meet up with Kyle. And nice to get to ride around in my first weberized ea81. Put a grand total of 547 miles on mom's trusty ol' 98 Legacy. And it turned over 184K miles right as I turned into their driveway taking it back to them. I need to check and make sure that we can both get off the weekend of the show. I'm pretty sure it's still early enough to request them off and get approved. Gotta love Wal-Mart:rolleyes: . I just wonder if I would have enough time to get the hatch up here and together in time to still be able to register it in the show... Oh, btw, my cell phone battery was too low to take a picture of the tripmeter showing 442.* miles when the gas light flashed on while we were coming home, lol. -
I know this for sure, you won't be able to use a clutch for a turbo ej. They are the pull type pressure plate. Any combo that could possilby work would have to be for an na ej. That being said, subyrally had a clutch setup made for his rx once upon a time that used an ej clutch disc and build ea plate. I have an ej flywheel. I will try to get some numbers for you tomorrow evening.

I'm not really into the off road myself, but I would enjoy taking a ride on the lifted side through the woods, lol. I've been somewhat of a recluse the last few months, just simply got burnt out with the internet, mainly my internet provider and their problems. But I'm back again.

We need to meet up sometime in that area, I'm glad to see more of us popping up around here, lol.

ACK! Revenge of the trunk water
86BRATMAN replied to Caboobaroo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Youcould do a thin skim of grease on the weather stripping to check for weak spots in the seal. I couldn't remember, something told me thats where it was though. I know my broken antenna was the source of a small leak when I got the xt. -
Replaced axle = vibration?

Its the axle... Got a bum one for mom's legacy last year and it vibrated the car somethin bad on the interstate. -

Check your weather stripping for tears or cracks, window seals.... Where is the antenna on a coupe? -

'78's Facelift is Done!
86BRATMAN replied to Seahag1978's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
The roll bars were a factory/dealer installed option. Dad's yellow 78, blue 80, or silver 79 brat's didn't have them in there. Nor were there any markings indicating removal. -
Depending on your skill level you can grease the speedo cable yourself. You'll have to disassemble the dash trim around the cluster, and then remove the cluster itself. You will then have access to the cable. Use some good quality grease, not sure whats recommended for this area, and get it down in there as good as you can.

Are these possible to get (lights)

Step 1. Buy a DeLorean... -
That would take a great deal of creativity. You would have to fabricate mounts for the injectors, modify ej22 fuel rails, redo the entire fuel piping on the engine, and then deal with the electrics of it all.

85 Brat Front End Vibration
86BRATMAN replied to coylethebarbarian's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
My suspision is bad new axle. I've seen it happen on quite a few subaru's personally. If you have a spare set of known good ea81 axles I'd take them with you and swap them in. What part of KY do you live in? -

I'm rolling premiers on the xt untill i can get the 5 lug together. -
It can be done, but its a lot of hassle for a still underpowered engine. If you are looking for power search up the retrofitting forum for ej22 swaps.

As long as they aren't bent, gashed, or curbed too bad they could be media blasted and refinished. -

Doesn't look too bad man, I would look around some of the junk yards and find some alloys for the old girl though.
