  1. How hard would it be to install four wheel discs onto one of the cars of this vintage? i know it would take away from the history of it, but it would make parts a lot easier to come by.
  2. I don't think the worth of convertors has reached the druggies in rural Tennessee and Virginia just yet...
  3. Using stock ej25 sensors and wiring, it is as easy as installing another ej25 in its place. In all actuality, probably only slightly harder than my instalation of a my91 ej22 into a my95 obd2 wagon...
  4. The toyota celica gts introduced as 00MY is known for the bolts in the actuation of the "lift" engagement mechanism to break in the 80K mile range. For a few years toyota did nothing about the problem. They simply looked upon it as abuse from the owner causing the problem. They finally realixed it was a design flaw in 03 and extended the warranty to cover the problem. How is this any different that Subaru's handling of the ej25 head gasket issue?
  5. Next step change the thermostat and radiator... Looks good, could really use a good bath and buff job. And a ea82 5 spd d/r swap, lol. So was today just to go check it out again, or is it yours?
  6. I had a few y's laying around here that I was going to chop up and sell the cats from... But somebody beat me to removing the guts.
  7. Quickest way to get to it that I have found... Find a post they have made, and click on their rating number. It'll redirect you to their feedback page, there will be a link to leave feedback.
  8. Should be one set of green and one set of black. But I'm glad you asked this question, I wasn't sure what to do with mine after I had snipped out a couple of those wires...
  9. No subaru other than the brat and ea81 hatchback made since 1985 has had rear shocks(and probably the justy, but it doesn't count in my book). They've used a coil over strut or air ride system ever since, front and rear. To answer the other question, yes the struts front and rear for 85/86 will work for the loyale. Some parts listings are incomplete or in accurate for some subaru models, especially the brat and hatch past 85, and the loyale. Look at the pictures, if availible, for the 85 struts from kyb, the oem ones for 85/86 4wds had height adjusters like the ea81 4wds.
  10. I just remembered another point to check... The rotor buttom is held on by a screw, if screw comes out no spark... So take the cap off the disty and see if its still there, while you have the cap off have someone bump the starter and see if it turns the disty. If not broken d/s belt.
  11. Did someone say white with red stripes?
  12. How many people own the old 2.2L ohv Cavaliers? They are the biggest hg eaters I've ever known. Its almost like a religion for them to blow the hg's between 85-95k miles. And you know what people still swear by them... If people would deal with the known hg issue on the phase 1 ej25 when it first shows signs, instead of waiting and driving it for a while there would be no problem. Coolant and water in oil for an extended period of time is very harmful to a motor, and most of the ones you hear of developing a rod knock have had a neglected hg problem in their service record. I found 10 or 11 Outbacks from 96-02 in the junkyard three weeks ago when I went, all but 3 of which were either within 10k of the 200,000 mark or well beyond it. ALL of those cars suffered major collision damage causing their life to end.
  13. Thats the trouble with open diffs, the side without an axle will always be the side that is getting power.
  14. And from the looks of it no rear axles...
  15. I have the switch and cyl with key from an 86 brat with tilt here on the wrong cost if nothing pans out local.
  16. No, the motor can stay in, but removing the radiator will give your hands more room to work. Get a new oil pump seal, cam seals, and check the t-belt idlers while you are in there. Do you know when the belts were last changed? Also consider doing a water pump while you are in there depending on mileage.
  17. The 96 ej22 outbacks are manual, and will not have the egr system.
  18. I'm gonna have to say its not the tailshaft:rolleyes:
  19. Indeed you are correct. Most people use the terms interchangably. I would recommend KYB's for your car, they'll give a good ride and long lasting quality, at least in my experiance
