  1. Yeah, I mean I've got two 1.8 liter honda blocks in my building. One made 130hp stock, the other made 170hp. I don't have any notions that my 1.8L can do anything of the sort.
  2. That looks damn good. Except for them tires:grin: . That actually looks about like stock ea81 camber...
  3. The jdm transmissions are really no different than our usdm models. You could find a known good tranny here for a heck of a lot cheaper than a jdm unit. What procedures have you used to determine what is causing your torque bind?
  4. Look at the stock exhaust pipes and follow from where they joint behind the engine. The primary o2 will be between the join and before the catalitic convertor. Also, did you use dedicated MAF cleaner or carb spray on the maf?
  5. I think in this case it warrents a FTMFW!!! What gear box are you using in there now?
  6. Some sensors may need to be changed seems to be a standard disclaimer for jdm parts. The wiring from yours may need to be swapped. And you definately want to find out what final drive ratio the tranny has. Because your rear diff MUST match or bad things will happen. But, what lures you to a japanese auto trany most?
  7. This is one removed from the cluster of an 86 brat, but all of the GL clusters I've seen ranging from 83 forward have had them. However the dl/standard models have not. The black plug shown is for the vss. Black grounds and yellow/red is the signal output to the ecu. Ignore the other plug in the pic, thats the egr reminder light switch. As for the crank sensor, I haven't a clue. That would be best left to the gurus of electrical devices. And thats definately not me.
  8. If thats what they call it then it sound right by their terms. Been doing some more reading on the site I linked up. Either I'm wrong about them being fwd normal, or some aussie terminology confuses me. But either way, it sounds like you've got the idea of what these guys want now.
  9. Here is a link from an austrailin board. It has pics of the shifters and the car its it. http://www.ausubaru.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6832&highlight=dual+range
  10. Wrong. Dual range 4wd. Remains front wheel drive untill you pull a lever. It has selectable 4wd hi and 4wd low ranges. You will have better luck sourcing these through the legacy lineup. Think of what the older subaru's have. These guys aren't wanting these for speed or power holding capability. They want them for the off-road.
  11. I'm glad to see you made it out ok. It could have been far worse. This reminds me of a thread a while bcak about a guy wanting to sell his ea82 something or other because it was "unsafe". You are a walking talking example of quite the opposite. I'm sorry about the car. A car can have a replacement. You cannot, definately get a good complete checkup when time allows just to be on the safe side.
  12. Stock size is either 12 or 13", I've had 14" ones do fine without hitting. There are plenty of splines for it to catch on. Just take off the cap that covers the nut, grab a 12mm socket and your ratchet and adjust it. Do it carefully and you'll be fine.
  13. Over here we only got the mpfi turbos. But all the gl models from 82+ IIRC had the vss in them. I know its a little work to pull the cluster out, but if it's in there then you're almost halfway done. And you wouldn't have to worry about constructing a reed switch that would be in a sensative area like the axle.
  14. Your thinking fast car. He wants a dual range 4wd ej transmission. We never got those. And in all honesty, if you can get the price right on those you could sell more of them here than you could cars.
  15. I can't say it sounds better, not worse though. Just different than an ea82. With the hole in the muffler it has that baby wrx sound to it. Soon enough though it'll be getting a whole new exhaust(read ej swap) so I'm not so worried about the rest of it.
  16. I have my original clutch, original axles, orignial paint, original rear shocks, original exhaust....
  17. You can. It is just a reed switch. Doesn't your stock cluster have a vss in it though?
  18. For the conversion, you'll need at least the gearbox, clutch, flywheel, cluthc/brake pedal assembly, clutch cable, tranny mount, And maybe axles(have no clue about the just axle design), maybe speedo cable(again justy illiterate), and a small bit of wiring changes to be made.
  19. You sure can. There is just a slight difference in the axles, but nothing to worry.
  20. I like how the center console looks almost stock, except for the color being different. My local driveshaft shops won't extend one without replacing the whole tube. And that costs more than my hatch did:dead: Did you use 2wd ea81 axles? I couldn't get the ej doj cups to fit on 4wd ea81 axles. I found a set of oe 2wd's and swapped off both the doj end and the cv joint for mine. As I plan to do ej front brakes and xt6 rears when I undertake my swap.
  21. Thats the one... Notice the crack in the housing and the frey in the wire cover. Bad sensor... Bad...

    homemade lift

It can be, just be easy on the throttle as much as possible so you do't risk tearing at the motor mounts
