I just about fell over... Stereo Wiring...
86BRATMAN replied to 86BRATMAN's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I just noticed this too, adapts from the common ground setup on each side to dedicated ground for each speaker. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-Cb8zYUdEobg/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=103000&I=12070003L -
Sitting here taking a break and I was looking at crutchfield. They have the correct wiring for a stereo install in the ea81 cars. I remember looking a while back and the had nothing right at all for us.... If you are interested... http://www.crutchfield.com/S-Cb8zYUdEobg/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=103000&tab=morephotos&pi=1&i=120701652&display=L#Tab

I'm with Gloyale, we had an 89 DL once, it had a/c and p/s but it had the s/r push button 4wd, has somebody swapped it?
-
They should be a close swap, if not direct.
-
It may just be a valve stem seal leak. Nothing major there. Just keep an eye on the oil level from time to time.
-
Hehe, mini meet, lol. Those are always fun!

Dollars v. performance and the reliablility factor. Chances are 1 in 4 that the 98-01 RS will have its headgaskets fail, this brings on a pretty hefty repair bill in itself. Do a search of the new gen forum of the head gasket and ej25 threads. So many people just swap to a 2.2 when the gaskets fail. Then factor in your insurance costs for the two. You may have parents who are willing to help like I had when I was your age, but keep them in mind as well. You'll give up a few options with an L model over an RS. But also keep in mind this is my opinion. And if the right deal came on a 98-01 RS I'd buy it, but I wouldn't keep the ej25 in for long.

Fender Question on 84 Brat...
86BRATMAN replied to Huck369's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I can't speak for the early ea81 cars. But the four eye went on flawless on the fenders of my std hatch. We won't talk about the radiator support right now though... -
You have to mod the four eye grill. There are pics and instructions floating around the board.

Are you meaning the bellhousing, that bolts onto the back of the motor and then to the tranny? Kinda cornfused me there...
-
From on top of the head, or on the side of it. I know in that area there is the breather hose, and valve cover just off the top of my head. But I'm just stabbing in the dark and will wait patiently for your pic tomorrow:)

Synthetic oil on old seals just isn't a good idea. Seams like it just makes them leak, probably removing the buildup that was keeping it from leaking. Can you describe the place you found the leak?
-
You sir, are the testament to the n/a tranny I've tried to tell people about, lol

You're good to go then. BTW your turn signal is on its way. -
[JDM] 1985 Leone GT Turbo (RX Turbo)

So the car basically gets stripped down and sent in "easy to handle" parts. Like shell, doors, hood, trunk, bumpers, engine and drivetrain, suspension. And but on a ship/plane and sent stateside. Who then puts the pieces back together? -
The ej25 has it weak spot of head gasket failure. Granted its a small percentage, but its there. And your insurance will be higher on the RS model because f the performance stature. For rock solid reliability the ej22 is king for those years. And all the sporty looks parts are a direct bolt on. Only thing is for the 99-01 RS front bumper you need the bumper support beam as well. And if you got froggy later on and wanted real power ej20 swaps are getting cheaper.

86BRATMAN replied to ruparts's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
You would be incorrect. I can login anywhere. Mom's house, I've never checked my email there. Public library, same there for when I need to print off stuff. -

They had one stock. If its not there it's been yanked off in its lifetime for this reason.
