  1. I'll pick it up tomorrow. If anybody needs the taillights from this thing, I can grab them too. most of the rest of the car is a mess. The odometer had 380,000 miles, and the interior was trash, but most of the exterior was OK except for where it got dinged up moving around the yard
  2. Will the hood from an 81 DL wagon fit on an 86 Brat? I found a perfect hood, but I don't know if it will work
  3. Don't get me wrong, I mean obnoxious in the best way possible
  4. I'd be into getting one but only if it were pretty small. something like 4-6 inches tall that could fit on a rear window, somewhere inside the cab, or on the rear bumper. The brat looks pretty obnoxious already with the lettering and stripes, and I think a huge decal would be too much for me.
  5. I drove my 91 loyale for a few months without a clutch. I was just going back and forth to work. It was a 30 mile drive, but there were no stops, hills or traffic. It was a little tough to downshift, but I managed to get the hang of it. Last year I traded it in towards a new Baja, and had to drive in the traffic in Tallahassee to get to the dealer. It was a real hassle there, because of all the stops and some pretty steep hills. The guy that had to look at the car to give me a trade value, couldn't get it out of the parking lot. They still gave me $300 for the car, and it had 275,000 miles on it. I probably put about 5,000 miles on it without the clutch. A guy I work with kept asking how the starter was holding up, but I never had a problem. Then 2 weeks after I traded the loyale, the started in my Brat died.
  6. I'll have a few photos of the jump seat mount ready after the weekend.
  7. The tool box/Jump seat mount is complete, and aside from a few fabrication erors, It is pretty darn cool. The next step is installing the bed steps. Since this is an 86 brat, It didn't come with Jumpseats or side steps, So I'm trying to see if someone could make me a stencil that I could use to cut the holes in the side of the bed. I was thinking If someone could take out their bed steps, Tape on a piece of paper, and make a charcoal rubbing type thing, it would work perfect. Any volunteers? Thanks Ace
  8. I appreciate the info and the offer of the frame. I'm actually having something built that should replicate the original frame. I just needed some approximate measurements. I had some photos from a set of seats that somebody was selling on E-Bay, but they were already removed from the bed. The tool box I'm having built should be pretty cool. It will be fairly small, but big enough for some small tools and emergency supplies. Plus the seats and belts will be easily removable. It should be ready this weekend. WooHoo!!! Ace
  9. Thanks for the info. For some reason, I was under the impression that the part of the seatbelts with the actual belt on it was mounted between the seats. Backwards from any other seatbelts I'd ever seen, but that's not so unusual for a subaru. I'm having a 18" x 36" x 3.5" tool box built to put the seats on. My brat is an "86, so it never had the jumpseats. That was half the reason I wanted a Brat, but I didn't know enough about them when I bought it. The box should be done by this weekend, so I'll post a feew photos of the finished product. Ace
  10. I need a few photos of a set of Jumpseats in a Gen 2 brat. I'm having a box made as a mount for putting seats in my 86. I need to know how the seatbelts and headrests were mounted. I have all the pieces (Seats with frames, Belts, headrests), I just need an Idea how they go together. My main questions are: Is the male end of the seatbelt mounted to the side of the bed? Is the female end with the actual belt mounted to the metal frame, or to the back wall of the bed? How high are the seats mounted above the bed? How much room is there between the seats? Thanks for the help Ace
  11. It was a wagon with a manual transmission. Push button 4wd, but I only used the 4wd when I was driving on the beach, or to get through a bad hole. No snow or muddy roads around here.
  12. The 91 loyale 4wd I just traded in consistently got almost dead on 29mpg. It had 245,000 miles, and got the same mileage since I bought it with 105,000. It didn't seem to matter if I was on the highway or in town (but I hardly ever drove it in town). Even with a canoe or surfboard strapped on top. It was pretty much stock, sxcept for a yakima rack, and the various parts that had fallen off. The low fuel light would always come on after right about 325 miles.
