  1. Got the nut and the washer, I am still looking for the flange. It's somewhere in my garage. It may be hid inside the Justy, which would make it a tougher find. But I will let you know when I find it. Mine is for 4wd with 13 inch wheels. Matthew Bos
  2. Because we all need a good laugh now and then.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6467&item=2462996566 "with rare 4 cylinder boxer engine" Matthew
  3. The fun thing working on Justys is that everything is so small compared to other cars. I am just in the starting point of tearing down the engine and trans. The problem is that my engine stand that is rated for dealing with a Hemi is a little to big to hold such a small engine. I was wondering if anybody has seen a factory engine workstand for the Justy? I have the part numbers for these creatures, 498455400 (attachment), and 499815500 (engine stand). This stand would be cool because is would sit on your workbench. The engine only weighs about 130 pounds fully assembled so it's not that hard to move around. The trans stands (4wd) have part numbers are 49935500, 499295600, and 499935400. These will not be all that hard to reproduce. I am more worried about the engine stand. Does anybody out there have any leads on these items? Any help in finding these items would be greatly appreciated. Matthew
  4. It seems that according to the adjusted engine displacement, a turbo'd 4x4 justy would end up in the production GT class. I wonder if it would be better to just build up the engine just to stay in the production class. Any thoughts here? The problem with Production GT is that Subaru never produced a turbo justy. I would talk to your local SCCA board about letting you run in GT, but you may get lumped into open. I have spent a long time on this...and I still want to run a Justy. Even though a Justy won't get any contingency funds. Matthew
  5. I got the engine pulled, I am ready to get into it. Its kind of scary for me because the last motor that I built was a small block chevy. I have never screwed with an EFI system. Certainly never mussed with a odd cylinder engine with a counterbalance shaft. I have a line on a MX6 IC and I may be able to get some injectors out of a 323GTX. My friend Grinner collects those tempremental beasties. I'm still stuck on a rhb-32 for a turbo unless someone can talk me out of it. I don't think I'll drop any money into a cam for the motor. I will probably end up spending some money on custom pistons. That way I can order some custom ring lands. Problem is that they sell in 4s and 6s, not 3s. I'm an engineer, so I am going to do the research and calculations. I spent the money on the education and I will use it the way I see fit. How do you go about balancing an engine with a balance shaft? Or do I specify that the new pistons weigh the same as the stock units? Matthew
  6. Justy number one is experiencing an idleing problem. After the car is warmed up the engine idles between 1800 and 1500 rpm. It see-saws up and down in a regular rhythm. It seems to say "I am warming up, I am at temperature, I am warming up, I am at temperature..." Other symptoms include: 1. Temperature guage warms to 1/4 to C and stays there at all times. Unless the engine is idleing for a long time...then shoots to H. 2. Fan never turns on. 3. No check engine light. At this point, I am stumped. Car runs fine except for these problems. I am hoping somebody out there has seen this before. Car in question: 91 Justy EFI 4wd. Justy w/4wd + Hakkapalittas= Snomobile with heat! Matthew Bos
  7. My wife saw it yesterday but did not buy it for me. At least she bought another model of transformer for the birthday child. Otherwise that kid would have had a large bag of nothing for a gift and me a new toy. Matthew
  8. The Justy engine is unique to the breed. Other motors will be close (IE Sprint) but they share no mechanicals with any other motor. I have a complete set of manuals (with Chilton stickers on them - thank you ebay) so if you need any details just let me know. I have a spare motor (everything but a crank) that you may glean for information...again if you need it... I was going to use a rhb32 turbo for my motor, mostly because I want it spooled up by 2500 rpm. Why did you go to the rhb5? I am doing a full build on the motor before I put the turbo on. My project engine has 120,000 miles on it. The plan is to blueprint the engine with a cam and possibly new pistons. I spent a week in Ashville this summer and saw NO Justys. Maybe I didn't look hard enough. I would be interested in a kit... Matthew Bos
  9. To quote Meg Ryan from the movie "When Harry met Sally" Yes! Yes! Yesssssss! Now I have some insparation to go on. My name is Matthew Bos and I love Justys.
