bump....gettin close, 2 weeks! i'll be there sat only cuz of work. but i'll be there all day!!!!! cant wait this is gonna be awesome, hope the wagon can make the trip, its been giving me too much trouble lately, i think ive dumped way to much into this car just fixing things that break, i gave up on making improvements months ago because all my cash had to go into keeping it drivable....we'll see how it goes.

is there any deffinative explanation as to why the pop happens during decel, cuz i just swapped from a 1in muffler to a 2 in(rest of exhaust is 2in also) to get better sound, and now it pops all the time during decel.

So here it is, this has to be the " be all end all" clip of the trip. the rover got stuck in it and had to use a block on a 10,000lb winch to get out, then 2 jeeps got stuck and had to be winched out by the rover. so i figured the rover would save me too when i got stuck......to bad i didnt! oh yeah that rover had a scorpion suspension lift, arb air lock rear diff and massive 3ft tall tsl swampers, just to give u an idea of what i was up against. take a look! also you can search around that album to find the vids of the rover and jeeps getting stuck and getting out to get a better idea of how bad the mud really was. http://s107.photobucket.com/albums/m288/RovingClowns/Erics%20Bday%203-24-07/?action=view¤t=nickmud.flv

i know this is a little time consuming but it could help, at night when ur not driving the car, jack the rear end off the ground to get all the weight off the springs. if done every once in a while it might help to releive the sag that occured from leaving and engine in the back of ur soob. this is of course only a temporary fix till u get new springs when u get ur soob lifted. im not saying this is a proven method, but it just might help!

It looks so good! (56k come back in the spring!)

So i was digging some drainage ditches in my fields with my tractor when it got stuck in the mud, deep mud. Its an older Kubota with rear tires as tall as my 84wagon. the front tires on the tractor were halfway into the ground and the back was about 6in in. the tractor also had a front shovel on it that was weighing it down pretty good. now this thing is really heavy, prob heavier then my wagon so i thought i wouldnt be able to get it out. well i ran back to the house and got my wagon and a tow rope (it stays in the car at all times) and drove back to the tractor. i hooked her up, threw it in 4lo, and dropped the clutch at 3krpms. WOW! that thing ripped the tractor right out and threw mud all over it at the same time! i never thought my wagon would do that! Is there anything these cars can't do?

I HAVE THAT EXACT SHIFT KNOB! although i dont use it anymore, i switched it with the one from my old jetta, metal in the winter is not to fun to shift with, its like grabbing a snowball. -
EA82- disconnect rear axles for better MPG?
goobaroo replied to Andy FitzGibbon's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i would say for that type of distance it would be worth it. you would lose a tremendous amount of rotational weight (the axles, the diff gears, the drive shaft). yes the engine doesnt have to drive them when in 2wd but it still has to get them spinning when the car starts rolling, and keep them spinning when ur driving. thats going to suck up HP and effect your gas milage. I say go for it, what have u got to lose? have fun driving cross country, its quite an experience, i did it with my family when i was younger...in an old VW camper Bus, for two weeks.....it was amazing!
