  1. Hi all..... Ive put nearly 2k on my recent aquisition...a 99 Legacy 30th anniversary edition...and during most of my 2nd -> 3rd shifts i feel the gear box catch with the clutch all the way in...something i havent ever experienced before...is this the syncros? Is my 5MT on the way out? Has anyone else out there had problems like this before? Thanks!!!
  2. yeah it would...especially if it came with a Dual Range. I wonder what the hell SOA was thinking when they decided to bring it back in an Impreza...they shoulda put it in something else. Im still trying to figure out how the heck to get one of dual range trans they've been making forever in south america up here and plop it behind my phase II 2.2.
  3. uh you must be driving that thing on the moon bro...no way an EA82 ever got better than 35 mpg, I dont care if it was SPFI and driven by ms. daisy that just isnt true.
  4. yeah...that stance sure does look intimadating i'd better watch out.
  5. Well let me flip that one around. The one mechanic I like is constantly pointing out things that the stealership has done wrong and/or never did but charged me for. For example I bought a GL back in early '05 and brought it to the dealer to flush the radiator...I live in the desert...and examine both front axles to determine if they are in need of any work. A couple months down the road the CV's start to click just as my engine temp starts to go erradic. My mechanic showed me exactly where a utility knife was used to puncture my CV boots and I watched in disbelief as something akin to mayonase was pumped from my radiator. These guys wont go near the local dealer for anything, they get suby parts shipped in from Phoenix, Flagstaff, or Cottonwood and call the out of town dealers to get their questions answered. I wont go near my local dealer unless it is an emergency and when I do get out of my car both the service manager and one of their mechanics hide with their tails between their legs so that they dont have to deal with me. I really dont like getting the run-around, overcharged, or treated like a statistic. I appreciate the fact that my indepenent foregin auto mechanic likes to do a good job the first time. Hell last newyears I even delivered them a pecan pie just to show them my appreciation. The only thing the local dealer is likely to get out of me is a bunch of saliva as it flies out of my mouth while I scream at them.
  6. CEL came on this afternoon. I've put less than 100 miles on the car since it left the dealership yesterday. Gonna take her in to the bastards and make them fix it. I took my parts guy off notice...he figured out the recall and got the part (it obviously affects my lego). Ill be sure to post what exactly is going on with it.
  7. 08/26/2006 Subaru of America Manufacturer recall/service bulletin issued Recall #WWG901 Air flow meter sensor service program so 99 was map...the local dealer here couldnt even pull up this recall in the service dept. im giving him till monday until he goes on notice. since october is free subaru diagnostic month and all I suppose that I should just make the bastards figure out the idle problem for free...and if its related to the map that makes all of it covered by the warranty. alright now people what else is up this this phase II 2.2 I drove off the lot today? ive only got 2925 more miles/89 more days 'till im off warranty or I eeeeek BUY the extended warranty.
  8. was 99 maf or map?...gotta somehow be related. 08/26/2006 Subaru of America Manufacturer recall/service bulletin issued Recall #WWG901 Air flow meter sensor service program car only has 50k and fresh everything. the de-greasing monkey went a bit off under the hood.
  9. Any idea where i should start looking to address a rough idle on my new phase II 2.2? Thanks!!1
  10. 4" body lift 11 x 31 x 15 tires 4wd hi + lo what more would a kid want to romp around in the desert...maybe a Solid Front Axle. im sure he just got home a minute ago and he's all like meanwhile im like $$$$$
  11. Proceding with thread jack....... engaged So what other sorts of things that can go wrong and potentially wreck a phase II am I going to be dealing with now? I guess what I really want to know is what is so different between the two..like..what makes the Phase II better
  12. doesnt really matter now...i just sold my pos '86 22r single cab 4wd with 216k with no AC to a guy in Phoenix for $2200. :headbang:
  13. its prob broken. happened to my GL and i had to pry the mother open at every fill up. if it is where i think it is it would be the little lever between the drivers seat and the door.
  14. hmmmmm...point taken...gonna have to work the first one into the implied warranty tomorrow. Thanks!
  15. It looks as though im going to leave this one mostly stock as far as engine/exhaust is concerned. but the suspension will not be spared...scouring local yards for OB susp parts or maybe i should go the other way and have a more sport tuned set up. either way its only going up or no where at all. definately going to invest into a halfway decent system though..something with an ipod jack right there on the face and new speakers. gotta tint it first though...it looks UGLY with clear windows on white. AZ laws gonna let me go 10% on everything except the windshield.
  16. ehhhhhh, i carfaxed it...2.2...im f'ing rolling. edit btw i found this newer recall: 08/26/2006 Subaru of America Manufacturer recall/service bulletin issued Recall #WWG901 Air flow meter sensor service program Click here or call 1-800-Subaru3 to locate an authorized Subaru dealership near you to obtain more information about this recall.
  17. I cannot answer your first question. All of the OB lifting i have done was on gen 1 legos. The frame member spacers are located between in line with the bolts that keep your engine on the frame in the engine compartment. there are two and they are situated between the engine and frame and have 2 bolts per spacer. if i remember correctly they also have some sort of platic part over the bolts. they are crucial for your susp swap to be done right. the spacers were in all pre '00 OB. edit: FREE RANGE does this stuff for breakfast. bother him about it. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=8697&sort=1&cat=500&page=1
  18. yes the ej22 is preferred over the ej25. what is the deal with the engine sequencing? in '98 it was dohc ej25 in all OB but still ej22 in legos. in '99 the GT had the dohc ej25 in the legos right? so did the L model 30th anniversary get the newer version of the ej22 or did it get the dohc ej25? Come on people I know a ton of you must own a 99 lego L 30th anniversary.
  19. 105 in an 85 GL bone stock with exception to the weber and full exhaust...going down hill of course. beat that!
  20. yes ive seen 90-94 legos on ob f+r susp. ive also seen it done right using the frame member spacer and various other susp parts off the donor OB. the result: 2" higher in your lego...just as tall as any other OB on the road.
  21. hmmmmmmm so 99 was the first year for phase II 2.2 litre motors and it appears that the 30th edition legacy l wagons came with the 2.2 and not the 2.5. Any 2.5 litre 99 legacy l wagons on the road?
  22. Hello all. I am new here and had a question about the 99 lego that I am going to be purchasing on Monday morning. 99 was the year that the SOHC was introduced to replace the DOHC on the 2.5 litre engines. Was this only for Impreza? Did any of the 99 2.5 litre engines have SOHC? And was the SOHC available in the Legos in 99? Thanks!!!
