  1. I like it too! Might do the same on my car. Black and green... not too bad. Since I always park on the street, both my bumpers look like they have been attacked by a family of wild cats. What preparation did you do? Could you give some details on how you did the spraying? Not very familliar with spray painting.
  2. But if you bought an aftermarket one, it's likely part of the problem.
  3. First make a search on this board with "P0304" and you should get some info. Do you have other symptoms? Rough idle, stalling, other problems ?
  4. I want to put a CD player in place of my cassette player. Could you give me the model number? Was it just plug and play or did you have to get the soldering iron out? No special installation kit for the car Model?
  5. You can buy one (OEM) at 1stSubaruParts for 50$ https://www.1stsubaruparts.com/partscat.html. Dont know about the universal one. Are you sure it's the pump and not the connector? Is there voltage getting to it?
  6. Yes, It was Patrick Straram called «Le Bison Ravi» The Delighted Buffalo. Was as you described. Drank and smoked (big cigars) himself to death. I'm afraid we are going to be offtopicked off this board...old man. But, as you said : l'audace, toujours l'audace!
  7. Yes. I would use it as a fuel system and upper cylinder cleaner. I dont know about the crankcase part. But I'm sure someone on the board has an answer for you.
  8. I've been thinking for a long time that the Parti Québecois needs a new strategist and I think I found one for them. Dont be surprised if you get a call from Bernard Landry. With Sea Foam and Purple Jesus we can rule the world.
  9. It's not the U joint itself that's sometimes the problem it's where the joint connects either to the steering column or to the second joint or where the second joint is connected to the rod that comes from the steering rack. It's intuitive: you'll see a pinch bolt and you just tighten it with a socket and drive. Play lightly with the steering first and you'll see if it's loose.
  10. I'll try my best to be simple and clear (in case you get this next morning) 1) Inspite of my best efforts, I could not find Sea Foam anywhere here, so I sent an email to the company. You read the reply. 2) There are on this Board some members from Quebec. I thought some of them might have looked for it also with the same result. I wanted to break the good news to them. 3) Since I was nice enough to answer your question, could you in turn tell me what other motives I could have had to post this? Just curious. :-\
  11. I just remembered : look closely, the second U joint is immediately after the first one and obscured by it. I you dont look carefully you might miss the lower joint which was the loose one on my car.
  12. Just received this email from a Sea Foam representative : Gilles we are rolling out the product through CARQUEST in Quebec starting April 4,2005 from their warehouse in Boucherville, I expect by the end of April all CARQUEST stores in Quebec will have Sea Foam product. Regards Paul Durkin
  13. Or you could replace the plug with a Fumoto drain valve. Much neater, faster, and forget about stripped threads, plug torquing and washer replacement.
  14. Another possibility worth checking. 1) Check to see if you have steering play. Whatch the left front tire and move the steering wheel slightly. Does the wheel move immediately or do you have to turn the steering more to have it move? If there is no steering play, disregard what follows. 2) If you have steering play, open the hood and check the TWO universal joints that connect the steering column to the steering rack. I had a problem similar to yours a couple of years ago and I found out that the SECOND universal joint (the lower one) had a lot of play at the lower connection end. I tightened it and no more steering play and no more wandering. Just a possibility worth checking. Good luck!
  15. It souds like the alternator to me. Get a multimeter and measure the voltage at the battery when the engine is idling. If under 13.50 volts, the alternator is shot.
  16. I'm amazed. Never thought Americans had any interest for canadian politics. It is because your President deals with the big stuff that I thought he would be the right man for the war on rust. "The ONUzi" ??? Maybe my accent is not pure Québecois?
  17. Ball joints are never easy (maybe on a new car but who needs to replace the ball joints on a new car????) The first time I replaced one (on a Loyale) I broke the pinch bolt and had to drill it trough and replace with a longer one and nut. Etc. Rust is the number one ennemy of shade tree mechanics. When will your president (or the UN) declare a war on rust?
  18. I have a Draw-Tite on my car and it looks very beefy and very solidly bolted to the under carriage. It might depend on the model, but mine exceeds by a ration of 3 the towing capacity of the car. The car's owner manual says 1,000 pounds max towing weight (without trailer brakes) and the hitch can take 3,000 ; the car's owner manual says a limit of a 100 pounds tongue weight and the hitch can take 300.
  19. On top of the good info already given and beginning with simple things you could replace the fuel filter if it's been there for a long time. Could be clogged. It could also be a fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator problem (you need a fuel pressure gauge to assess that) It could also be a clogged cat. Short of removing and inspecting, you can use a vacuum gauge to check that. If it comes to that, i can give you the test procedure for checking the cat with a vac gauge. Good luck!
  20. When that happens, can you rev the engine higher than 2 K while declutching or in neutral?
