  1. Thanks brothers, it turns out I am going to pull as much as I can from this new vehicle to build the ultimate Legacy Wagon Remix... with parts from a Legacy wagon GT, and Outback, mounted on Legacy Briton
  2. Thanks bro.... sounds good and I am sure my mechanic would know best with swapping the two boxes... all the best and thanks again for the quick and quality reply in content.
  3. Hey everyone thanks for stoping by to verify that the Subaru service tech is accurate- he says that there is a 99.9% chance that the 1998 Legacy wagon and Outback has the same 5 speed manual transmission..... Please leave your vote if this is true or false? In the morning I will go and harvest the transmission my friend just found for me. The story is that the owner left the window open and a bear crawled in and destroyed the interior. The vehicle was in perfect working order at the time so i am scoring the vehicle for the cost of hauling it away so I can improve the longevity of my 20 year old beast! The engine has already been removed so any tips on a quick removal of the tranny will be appreciated as I don’t own a Haynes.... all the best, johnny
  4. Hello All !!! Before I say anything I want to say many thanks for all your help and input. After my weekend protocols I was able to remove the side panels. The belt looks good however after letting my Mechanic that I bought the car from in 2007 hear the noise throughout the phone he confirmed that the water pump pulley has gone bad and the car should not be driven. Fortunately I was able to make my shoot on Thursday and she did handle the 48 km round trip to the location. Thanks again for the help to prevent the loss of such a young rebuilt ej22 of under 96,000 kms. All the best and have a great spring everyone. Here is my Thursday production - made possible with my diligent 1998 Olympic Outback! Johnny
  5. Will do with the cover removal. I won't drive her for more than 5 minutes until I do. I have had her for 250,000 and the engine does not have 96,000 on her yet as it was replaced under warranty because the mechanic tighten the belt to much when putting a new timing belt clutch in her back in the summer of 2011which snapped the timing bolt on the highway un the middle of no where. kindest regards, Johnny please enjoy my best time lapse so far for 2017!
  6. here we are... snapping the throttle... sorry for the delay.. many thanks for your feed back...
  7. Give me a sec and I will - I am due to shoot a 12 hour time lapse tomorrow at Sunshine village - if I could drive up and not hitch hike would mean everything for more successful 14 hour day. From my studio to sunshine village is 48k return... up steep hills and down steep hills unfortunately... ...And then another 120 to the Subaru hospital the next day. will be back shortly - with the new video - enjoy this one while I am out making it....
  8. Monday night after a time lapse expedition I noticed this sound within the timing compartment. The question is - is this sound from a broken idle pulley? And if it is how long can I drive like this as my trusted mechanic is a 170 km drive alway - including my day trip planned for Thursday. I just noticed the sound yesterday and don't know how long it has been making this sound. The car seems perfectly fine on the open road. Thanks for any feed back because the engine was rebuilt and I was due to replace the belt this spring. Kind Regards and many thanks for any replies in advance! Johnny
  9. many thanks... this will work perfectly! warmest of regards to everyone who is helping me with this repair !
  10. This is a great piece of information and Man alive the confidence on this message board is beyond what I got from Richmond Subaru! I will let you know when I have a moment to check it out! Cheers and God bless all of you because you know you're saving me 125.00 per hour for the use of professionals that don't this vehicle even though they are certified Subaru mechanics ! Johnny
  11. No electrical security system on my girl but thanks for taking the time in letting me now about this. All the best, J
  12. Many thanks for the suggestion, I went out and turned her on and unfortunately no dice... however I think you may be on to something that it may be something in the steering column... I did find that the parking light switch was half way on when I noticed that lights were not reflecting in the window at work the other day when I turned her on.. Cheers, Johnny
  13. Ok I should look those two fuses and see if they are blown I take it - will do as soon as possible. I have never tried to sort out this kind of problem however if I have a good guide I can do anything in the ways of fixing my car. Cheers and thanks for such a swift reply. Johnny
  14. I left with the sweet girl with them for 2 hours and the diagnostic was only to be a hour. I finally broke down and called them and they said the tech that was working on it would need a lot more time to pin down the problem and unfortunately he had to go home a hour after he started trying to source out the problem. This was with Richmond Subaru in British Columbia. I decided then after this response I would a find the resolution here on USMB or go drive back home during day time driving hours and go to my service award winning Subaru specialist in Calgary. Many thanks for your feed back always! Johnny
  15. A few days ago I notice that my front marker lights and my tail lights were no longer working. However my turn signals, head lights, and brake lights are working perfectly fine. I took the car in for a 1 hour diagnostic and the Subaru dealership has not worked on a Legacy Wagon of my vintage in a while and they were not sure how long it would take to find out where the short may be. So now, the race is on to source out the short before I make the 700 kilometre trip back home on the 1st of May. If anyone has a diagram I could purchase a copy of and download so I can look at the wiring nightmare with a point to point methodology it would be a real Life saver for my trip home for summer work. All the best and thanks again for any answers in advance.
  16. Yes when I dropped in my K&N I did notice both more power and fuel economy when I kept the car at 55 miles per hour... - Thanks for this reply!
  17. Yo Bro let me know how it goes with the install of this and maybe I will spend the nickel to go as well... thanks for your interest in the the thread. All the best -Johnny

  19. Hey All- I found this thread... Just by chance I have a K&N air filter in there already. I will research as much as possible before I try anything because I have not done anything like this before... http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=625543 or... I will save a truck load of cash and pull a H-6 swap! for some real gains!!! http://youtu.be/V7IPo6jmn-8
  20. I have been considering to go with a Cold Air Intake to improve my gas milage and performance.. I am driving a 1998 2.2 Legacy Outback. What are the drawbacks? And does anyone know if I will truly see a mile or 2 extra per gallon in fuel savings which would pay for the cost in about 2 months with how much I drive with my mobile business? http://www.cosmoracing.com/productinfo.asp?cid=150&pid=1700 As always thank you everyone for the feedback as am spending every extra cent to finish the restoration and customization of my 1998 sweetheart of a ride for her 20th birthday! What is your favourite cold air intake for Subaru? All The Best and Drive Safe and Have Fun! Johnny
  21. thanks for the feedback... when I have time to do this I will consider both of these options.... the door has a dent in it and this why i want to remove it... cheers and all the best...
