Just out of curiosity how much did you pay for everything? I'm looking to get it done in my 00 Outback and am curious to what you paid.

Well I'm finally going to have it done. The cracked HG in my 2000 OBW is going to get replaced before winter. I'm going to have a local mechanic do it, but I am going to buy the parts. Can you guys give me a list of what I'm going to have to buy for him? The timing belt and water pump have just been replaced about 15,000 miles ago, so I'm not going to have that done. Just the HG job.

I need to find a good mechanic to do my HG and clutch for my 00 OBW! Does anybody know of any good mechanics in Northern Indiana or Southern Michigan?

I need a good place to get paint for a 2000 Subaru Legacy Outback. The paint color is 444. I'm fixing some rust, so some spray paint is needed. Where online is a good place?

I'm getting a HG job on my 00 OBW. Where should I purchase new HG's and maybe a clutch kit?

Has anybody used the stuff? It is as good as what people say? It comes highly recommended on several oil message boards. Both the synthetic and synthetic blend are very good and have good statistics. What do you think?

A friend of mine has another 00 OBW just like mine. However the headgaskets and clutch needs replaced soon. I did my headgaskets last year myself, so I can't give him a good estimate. How much would the combined headgasket/clutch job be do you think at a repair shop?

I have a 00 OBW with 150,000. I am the original owner and I religiously change my oil using synthetics or synthetic blends. I recently went from 5W30 to 10W30. Was that a good idea? What watt should I be using?

I just got back from getting my codes read at Autozone and it turns out my knock sensor is what is causing my CEL to come on intermittently and unpredictably. Where is a good place to get a good knock sensor? I didn't buy one from Autozone as I've not had good luck with their parts. Any tips on putting new knock sensor on?

I just got my code read and in this case it's the knock sensor. I'd consider either replacing the knock sensor or making sure it didn't get bumped loose.

That's what I figured too. Do both O2 sensors have to be replaced? I've found both of them. Are they difficult to replace? Time estimate?

A rock cracked my windshield driving back home the other day. The damage is irreparable and will need a new windshield. Got a quote from 89glass.com at $279. Does this sound good? Can they reuse the windshield molding or will that be extra? Thanks

My CEL has been coming on sporadically for about the past 2,000 miles. The car drives fine and notice no difference in anything. I'll drive probably 300 miles and suddenly it will come on. After driving it normally it will turn off after a few times of starting it. I know I need to get the code read, but what is your best guess? It's a 00 OBW.

Anybody know of a good Subaru mechanic in Northern Indiana/Southern Michigan? I need to do the dreaded HG fix for a 00 OBW. Also probably going to do the clutch at the same time. Is that a good idea?

Driving my 00 OBW back home yesterday and a rock got kicked up by a car in front of me. The rock needless to say cracked my windshield beyond repair. I wasn't too worried about it, as I though my insurance only required $100 deductible on windshields. Unfortunetly this isn't true and I have to pay the $500 deductible. Any ideas on how much a windshield costs?

Does anybody know how I can replace/fix the weather stripping around my doors and windows? I'm getting water and wind inside!

My 2000 OBW with 145,000 on her has just recently been getting a terrible exhaust smell in the cabin when driving. Could this just be the oxygen sensor that needs replaced? I don't have any problems in performance or any exhaust leaks. My guess is either the cat converter or o2 sensor. Am I probably right?

I went to autozone for a previous CEL and the guy told me that he didn't think they could pull the codes on Subarus. Is that true? It sounded kinda bogus to me, but I don' know. He said if he plugged it in the airbag might go off.

Ok I know this is very difficult to diagnose, but give me your best guess. My check engine light has started to come on. It will eventually go off, but sometimes comes back on when I start my 00 OBW. Engine seems to run fine. Today when I was stopped at a light the RPMS dropped for a second, but then went back to normal. This happened at a few other lights.Today was the first time that I noticed that. I have no idea what the problem is. Could it be an oxygen sensor, PC valve, or EGR valve? Any other ideas? Thanks!

I cannot find the spare key to my 00 OBW anywhere! Freak accident somehow locked myself out of my car with it running, luckily neighbor is a car salesman and had something to help me out. Still can't find it. Where can I get another one?
