  1. For now i'll plan on running the DL in stock class. Then over next winter I plan to put some time and money in it thinking franken motor awd and a cage etc. or just buying something faster. But XTs just suit me....
  2. I have the issue gd described to a much lesser degree. I only mildly refinished the flywheel and forgot the raised step. Clutch grips fine for now but I have no adjustment left.
  3. I'm still yet to change my front brakes. worried about those turn in calipers.
  4. Cool videos. I subscribed and will be looking at more later. Your impreza looks like fun. I may have to get me a cheap imp coupe later.
  5. If you decide you don't want it... I know someone in rust free alabama who does. XD There's a bit of info on subaruxt.com and nasioc.
  6. sounds like monster wedge to me. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/654742/1987-subaru-xt
  7. wanna sell 'em? it's just a FWD XT suspension under there. but 4wd XTs ALL came with air struts. I kind of want to use the ugly car anyway. 4WD would be preferred for RallyX but I hear Fwd is fun too. if I can get by with the FWD suspesnion and still be in stock class that would be great. I eventually want to make many upgrades to the black car five lug EJ etc. and keep the GL as stock as possible etc. the DL is rust free and the GL has a few underneath spots that I am afraid to make worse rallying it. (and it's too pretty to beat on) keep in mind though. I don't need either car to get to work, etc. we have a Venture van and an 07 Eclipse to do that stuff.
  8. "Miles Fox's SecretMobile" sounds like a cartoon. I just get an image of a secret agent fox riding in a very stylized 80s subaru.
  9. http://www.scca.com/downloads/#rallycross Downloaded from here. 4wd xts weren't available with coils. So that's not "as equipped from the factory"
  10. I read the rules and it says any tire so long as it doesn't say "competition only" or something to that effect. Thanks for the tips trying to be in stock class. Also... The coil swap puts the 4wd out for stock class.
  11. Okay more just thinking about it at this point. I have an xt dl that is an ugly car but a runner And a nice looking XT gl that is 4wd... I'm leaning toward racing the fwd but I may change my mind. Either way I'm looking for 13 inch tires that will be good and not move my class. I don't mind changing the rims at the event. (assuming its allowed) The dl needs a few things worked on to get back stock. (gutted y pipe for one) The gl has a fwd suspension. Which might move its class despite the fwd suspension actually being a performance down grade. (so I have heard any way.) What else should I think about in regards to doing some rally racing this season? Thanks!
  12. I've decided to just use the tires. Most of what I am getting off it is pulled and spoken for.
  13. They are different numbers but I had them side by side and they are the same on the outside.
  14. The flapper maf cover needs to be sealed. My money is on that fixing it. The spring is connected to a flapper door inside. The spring dictates how much resistance is placed pin the door... If the lid its off and not sealed then you are losing and/or taking in more/less air than the box is reading.
  15. you can open the flapper maf and tighten or loosen the clock spring. but that only adjusts fuel delivery. there is an idle speed adjustment near the throttle body or like john said the IAC is on the thermostat housing. it's not weird for an 85 mpfi car to idle at 2200 when cold. does it come down when it's warmed up?
  16. okay. I thought it was a strange thing to think that was stock. now I just kind of feel silly.
  17. why would you think a stop sign post welded into a bumper was stock?? or is this some attempt at a joke that flew over my head??
  18. how much bigger tires? pics! (when you make them fit of course.)
  19. it can be hard to find good quality tires in a 13 size. and there's not a lot of choice in the wheel styles either. I say go for 205-50-15 the street ride is good, and it's available in just about any type of tire you want.
  20. don't you need a different tranny mount (xt6) to run an EJ trans in a GL? Edit: automatics... Duh... Ignore this post.
  21. I can't think of a reason it would be milky before and not later. I used a small air compressor and blew my core out.
