  1. I think I am gonna go the cheap route with my turbo wagon and look out for a donor ea82 engine/car. I belive that I should be able to swap over the ecu, harness, engine etc. etc. with no problem right? I will be keeping my pushbutton 4wd for now and eventually want a d/r for a crawler build-up down the road. So my question is what year ea82 cars should I look at and what will I run into if I try to put the donor engine in my 89 turbo wagzorz?
  2. Ok so when I get this legacy, do I change my 3.70 rear end out with the legacys? and If I'm correct, I'll need my driveshaft shortened, some modifying of the trans crosmember and some lengthining/welding of the shift linkage? and what about the clutch master cyl on the awd trans?
  3. Car is a 89 gl turbowagon push button 4wd. It has 150k on it and is in good condition besides the engine. Need advice, deciding between: 1. Fix my ea82t, which has all sorts of issues like dying while coming to a stop, boggy powerband, poor mileage, runs like crap and has exhaust leaks $$$??? Time??? 2. Find a donor ea82 car NON-turbo hopefilly mpfi and swap over the engine ecu harness etc. $500-$1000 approx. Time 1-2 weekends 3. Find a EJ22 donor car, adapter plate, drill flywheel for my pushbutton 4wd, get a d/r ,awd d/r,or get legacy awd trans to work, modify harness. $1000-$2000 Time 1-2 weekends My goal with the car is good gas mileage, some off-road ability, needs to get me to the ski slopes and some light work duty.   4. Thanks for the info guys. I decided that this car will become a lifted/offroad soob so I think I am gonna go adapter plate, maybe awd d/r or d/r in the future. So I am still looking for an EJ22 engine/harness set or maybe a cheap complete car in the Sacramento, ca area... Also in need of an adapter plate and drilled flywheel to bolt it up. After I get the engine sorted out its time for front and rear lsd's and a 6-lug conversion. Maybe rear e-brake. Thanks again:banana:
  5. Going EJ. Either ej22 or ej25 Car is a 89 turbo touring wagon 5 mt push button 4wd. I cant decide between going awd or go adapter plate. Whats the pro's/cons on either? Also as far as swapping the engine, should I be looking for an engine with the ecu and harness or just an engine only? I dont really want to go aftermarket ecu. I plan on making my own harness modifications or maybe sending it to the nice people on the board here who do the conversion. thanks:banana:
  6. Well I am about to pick it up. The mechanic said that it was a pin that fell out of the connector on the idle valve. He also re-checked the wiring on the 02 sensor. Pics soon! Also just ordered some 280zx turbo injectors for only 20bux!!!
  7. 1988 Gl turbo wagon, stock except for Tdo4 w/hks down pipe and wrx intercooler. Always had the hesitation issue mid rpm range( around 2-3k then cleared up) But now after the modifications it runs poor. If you give it part throttle it runs ok, a bit rough idle, hesitation but seems ok in higher rpm. If you give half or more throttle it really chokes and takes a long time to rev up. The system was pressure tested and all leaks sealed. Any ideas? 02 sensor(wires had to be extended to fit downpipe),maf problem? P.S Where can you buy an aftermarket 02 sensor for this car? I need one that is 3wire.
  8. Well its possible that other things caused those problems like the cams or fpr maybe. So do you think 280zx turbo injectors are the way to go or should i go rx7 460's or dsm 450's? SAFC to compensate??? or are there other mods to get them to work right?thx
  9. Im still not clear on this, he states that he pulled the specimens of unknown cc out of a box of random injectors, how do we know if he used rx7 n/a injectors or mitsubishi dsm injectors? I was searching and learned that the 280zx turbo injectors are 269cc and i belive our stock ea82t are 180cc or is it 245cc? Anyone able to clear this up for me? I have a 88 wagon w/td04 and wrx topmount, not looking to make much power just avoid leanin it out with some fuel mods, what should I do? thx:headbang:
  10. I dont get it, he says 280zx/300zx injectors in his post, are they the same? Has any one tried dsm or rx7 injectors? Or is the best option for a tdo4 ea82t still 280zx turbo injectors?
  11. Going 6 lug, looking at american racing ar-767, classic black steel wheels. What width can I get away with? I dont have a lift and actually want to keep it at the same ride height if not a little lower. Looking to run normal tires i.e 50-60 series stretched over a 7 or 8 inch wheel. What is my best option here? THX!!!
