  1. Will, I know you are a spectacular driver, and couldn't some of this ^^ be attributed to you being a good driver and them being only mediocre? You also may not like the WRX very much, but in my Dad's stock 02, I can keep pace with those funny little "performance cars" with the blue and white emblems on the hood and those awesome tires from Indiana... I like the WRX just fine.
  2. Last time I checked, they were ancient history. Might be worth a try at a different dealer though.
  3. New England may have had similar emissions regulations as Cali at the time and all cars shipped there were required to have Cali smog equipment. Just an idea.
  4. I've had 6 EA81s (turbo and non) and they all had 1 cat. The Cali turbos came with two for sure though. Who told you that? Almost any engine can benifit from increasing the diameter of the exhaust. For his aplication anything above 2 1/2" is much too large.
  5. I love the car, but did you take those pics with a cell phone camera or what?!?
  6. A few of my friends have Porsche 944s. Their ECU is under a piece of wood in the passengers side foot well. Maybe make a hideout for the amp like that?
  7. I have an amp under the driver's side front seat in my EA81 wagon and it has never overheated on me dispite not having an internal fan. If yours is slim enough, I encourage this route.
  8. The turbo car did indeed turn out to be a blue coupe.
  9. Thanks for the tip Ed! We need this turbo for Quattro San, and maybe a few other peices for my fleet!
  10. Well to update this thread, I now have the black T-Coupe and I saw the maroon coupe I mentioned in the last thread again a few days ago in Bellingham running around in the snow:
  11. This is the end to an old thread. I eventually sent a pic of the engine. If anyone stunbles upon this thread in the future, shoot me a PM and I'll give you a copy of the pics.
  12. From left to right with the ECU plug pointing at me: G (UB), LY (UFIX), YR (US), GND (YL).
  13. Disconnect air flow meter connector, and measure resistance between Us and GND of air flow meter... Approx 70 Ohm when flap is fully closed Between Ub and GND: Approx 300 Ohm Ufix and GND: Approx 200 Ohm Us and GND (With flap opened fully): Approx 50 OHM (With flap closed fully): 500 Ohm Looks to be identical to the EA82 MAF.
  14. From the EA81T wiring diagram supplement, May 1983: 1) Set key in switch in IG position. (Engine off) 2) Measure voltage between check connector II air flow meter Ufix (LY) + and ground (BR) - 3) Apporx 5V? I'll continue when you reply because its like 3 pages long and I have no scanner.
  15. :slobber: Must... fix.... coupe.....wagon..... Nice job on the enigne!
  16. I just got the new downpipe on and this thing sounds like a beast! Moving on to the clutch next!
  17. Don't need to hit the mountains to find snow anymore!!! 10 inches at my casa, and not a subaru in sight...
  18. Yes and they work awesome!!! I've got a set and I'm VERY pleased with them so far.
  19. AMEN!!! I'm shocked that that it took five posts to get the truth out. A lightened flywheel will: NOT reduce torque NOT change the torque curve for the worse (WILL look better) make it easier to stall make your clutch easier to overheat (You are lightening your heat sink) NOT change your gearing NOT make it harder to accelerate up hill
  20. So what was the spread between new and old gen cars? I really wanted to go but was worried about not seeing any old school cars. My guess is that the two RXs were about it... Maybe a couple brats and other EA series but not enough to warrent a visit.
  21. I'll check tomorrow when I'm around my car. Have you checked the FSM?
