There is aftermarket support, you just need to know where to look. We all know we can get Delta cams, but does anyone know where to her high rpm valve trains (Ti pushrods, dual valve springs, oversize valves)? I do. Plus it helps that being in the program that I'm in at WWU gives me access to any type of machining that I could want. There will be little or at least the bare minimum of expenses for most of the mods that I'm going to do to this car.

If you have a SS plange I'll take it, but if its just mild steel I'll pass. I think I'm gonna run the stock turbo for a while or maybe bolt up a VF7 while I rebuild/clean the VF11.
-
Working towards it Qman, but somebody needs to actually do something with this engine instead of just dumping them like I've seen happening a lot recently. I'll see how much potential these turbo cars have.

Trubo Stud Dimensions all Needed
carfreak85 replied to carfreak85's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Taken care of, thanks for the help! -
Well, unfortunatly I was the guinea pig this time. Just so everyone knows in the future a VF-11 and a VF-2/7 do NOT share the same up pipe flange. The VF11 matches two of the mounting holes but the furthest towards the rear is about 0.25" further than on the stock turbos, much like the TD04. Just thought I'd let everyone know since it had been mentioned that they were identical.

Trubo Stud Dimensions all Needed

Anyone have any idea? -
I'd gladly take the FT gear box off your hands if you do decide to get the car and swap trannies.

I'm planning on installing my stainless steel header this weekend, but first I need to buy SS hardware. I've already looked up the head studs' pitch (1.25x10) but how long are they? Also, what are the dimensions for the turbo studs? Are they the same pitch or different? I'd like to be able to walk into the store and tell them what I need. Thanks in advance!

I looked into those heads as well as the Ram Performance heads a while ago and teh SUB4 heads cost ~$2000 with four ports while the 3 port Ram heads were ~$1500. Maybe some day when I have the money... -
BBS wheels! for OLD SCHOOL!

Looked around Simmons' web site but couldn't find a set of the P86. Post a pic please, these sound like what I'm looking for!!! -
The driver's side dash speaker is 3x5" but if you work at it you can squeeze a 4x6" in there. Also, the 5.25" door speakers are very thin, so if you plan on upgrading then think about how much thicker the aftermarket ones are and how to make them fit.

Sweet, I love it when project cars start coming together. There is nothing like it! Your wagon looks great by the way.

Polyurethane Bushings for my 85 GL Hatch

Welcome to the board! We have a very convienient search function where you can find find both the answers you're looking for. They have both been answered fairly recently. -
I might try to make it if my lifted rig is fixed by then.

Keep tabs on it. They can't sell it and it will eventually go to a scrap yard. Try to get it just before they send it off. I got a crappy old brat from my local dealership for $200 a couple summers ago.

I can't really tell in the head on pic, but if you don't have some holes bored in your bumper in front of your intercooler then its not doing anything. Airflow = cooling, no airflow = no cooling. I like the idea of expanded aluminum, maybe painted to match the bumper. By the way, I'm WAAAAYYYY jealous!!! :slobber: -
Can we get a part number for those axles?
-
If you're serious about offroading, the option A is your best bet. If you are budget minded, go with B. If it were me, go A.

I'm amazed nobody else has posted a link to this. I know there is one other guy looking for vintage pics. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/80s/projectrudy/rudy.html If you've seen this before I appologize.

I'll measure my hatch this weekend and edit this post with the numbers. *EDIT* I have about 11" at the front skid plate (10" at the Y-pipe) and 9.5" at the rear diff. This is on an '81 hatch with a 3/3" PK lift with 27" MTs. You mustang people with your crappy 4 link rear suspension. Hey, isn't the roll center of your front suspension underground? Hmmm, last time I checked thats about as poor as you can get from a handling standpoint.

Arrgh! I give up...

BITE YOUR TOUNGE SIR!!! I bet (scratch that, I KNOW) my wagon is faster than any of your non-turbo EA71-81s. I've raced and beat a Weber'd EA71 brat and a 1275cc Morris Minor. Haven't had any HG or electrical problems on mine either (Knock on wood). You would be suprised how much get up and go these cars have. What about cutting out those peices of metal from another coupe and having them welded on? -
