If I'm not mistaken the VF-11 up pipe flange will bolt to the factory VF-7 flange. Please correct me if I'm wrong!

For all you EA82T guys out there, what do you do about fuel delivery? Do you keep the stock pump or will a pump from another application fit from a company like Walbro fit in the stock location?

The up pipe flange should be a match and the down pipe flange from a WRX should work. If I'm wrong someone please correct me! -
center console - hand rest lid.....Q
carfreak85 replied to moshem74's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Go to your local scrap yard and look arounds for '85 and later GLs/Loyales and try to find one with a high-rise center console. I don't know what cars had them or what option package they were part of, but someone else might. -

I beleive the turbo block has a threaded boss on top, right behind the intake manifold for the knock sensor, but don't hold me to that. -
I had four bearings and four seals when I replaced them on my 84 4WD wagon. Whats this about the grease?!?! Wish I had known that....
-
If you're using the original factory antenna, you might think about replacing it. The wire to the head unit may have corroded internally.

See the post in the Old Generation Forum about sending emails to KYB.

Do you have to get those custom made or do can you put those together yourself?

New gauge install with pics and questions.
carfreak85 replied to kingbobdole's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Already had that problem. Kingbobdole, the readings you are reporting sounds appropriate for your car. My wagon will get very high oil pressure when its cold, but I try to not rev it up when it is cold. The oil temp will be around 225 cruising on the freeway. I still need to hook in my water temp gauge though -

Check your ignition system. Plugs, leads and distrubutor to see if they need to be replaced or repaired. -

THANK YOU!!! I'd love to get a couple spares for my dash. Let me see if I can't find any burned up ones for you. -
oil cooler specifics... cons?
carfreak85 replied to DasWaff's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The downside to an oil cooler is that in colder climates you have the potential to over cool the oil. Just something to keep in mind. That being said, I have a larger one ready to replace the factory cooler on my wagon. -
ea81 rear torsion bar beefy enough? / wheelbase widening
carfreak85 replied to scrap487's topic in Off Road
They don't have trailing arms for one thing and their wheel wells are much deeper than ours so they can stuff the tires for more compression travel. -
So any one out there weld?
carfreak85 replied to yodannyc's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Check out the vendor sales section and look at the pics they show of prefabbed peices. Those pics would be a good base for insperation. -
WJM has seen another thing...EA82 information
carfreak85 replied to WJM's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
To tell you the truth, oil temps are what we should be worrying about, like Caboobaroo says, as it actually does more of the cooling for the engine than the coolant does on its own. Now, I have noticed that extended freeway driving will bring my oil temp up to about 225*F, which is HOT!!! (Don't know what an EA82T runs) Almost to the end of the gradents on the autometer gauge I'm using. My car does have the factory oil cooler, but its pretty small. I have a big fat one sitting in my basement, but the high temps make me wonder if my oil thermostat in the cooler sandwhich isnt opening all the way or opening at all. At some point I would like to have the oil and coolant passages extrude honed (Polishing will decrease surface area, thus cooling potential) when I can track down a decent spare engine.
