  1. Yes, we ARE!!! Winter break is coming up fast and I need a project!
  2. It was pretty easy on the gen 2 car since they had them earlier. I just unbolted the bottom of the core support and cut out the top half. Drilled some holes for the top of the center lamp to bolt to and thats about it. I also had to cut the grill because the quad headlight set up came around after the cyclops had been killed. A friend of mine and I tryed putting one on his gen 1 brat and found that unless you're prepaired for some serious fabrication, it will not be an easy conversion.
  3. He knows the secret! Its like Qman says, one for the street, one for the woods!
  4. Sweet!!! How much did all the gear cost you and what did it take to make it work?
  5. I finally got all the new bearings greased up along with the seals for the front wheel bearings. They are pressed into the knuckle, but now I can't get the knuckle back on the axle. I don't have the special tool that the FSM suggests using. I need this car to drive back to school tonight, so if anyone has a trick or suggestion, please lay it on me!
  6. Thanks a lot for the advice guys! Thats why I love this board so much! I ended up using a BFH and a block of wood to beat on the end of the axle. Worked like a charm!
  7. I'm trying to get the hubs off my wagon, and I have everything off except the disc and hub. They are still on the axle. The cone washer is stillin there and I can't seem to get it off. I don't want to pry on it too hard since I don't have too many sitting around. I need this car to be done tomorrow night so any help you can give would be great.
  8. Spockproof huh? Watch too many episodes of Star Trek lately? Thanks for the info though, no wonder they didn't have any fluid at the dealer!
  9. That thing sure looks burly!!! My Kumhos have got to go now, I need me some SWAMPERS!!!!!
  10. Are you sure? The way I understand a viscous differential works is by shearing those long silicone molicules in half to get the desired limited slip characteristic. This would mean that the fluid would eventually break down and the diff would not work a well. Anyone have a FSM who is willing to clear this up?
  11. I want to stick this LSD in my wagon, but I want to change this mystery fluid out for some new stuff. The dealer doesn't sell fluid for the legacy's viscous diff and the parts store just has GM, Chrysler, Ford stuff. What do you guys suggest I do?
  12. I LOVE MY SCHOOL, I LOVE MY SCHOOL!!!! I also have a blurry picture of a set of EA81 heads that were modified to diesel. When talking to the current prof of the VRi (the program I'm in) he said that the EA81 diesel ran like crap.
  13. Never, ever heard of that. Would it be possible to go back and snag those?
  14. I would be all over these if they were 8 spoke, but I have the enkeis already, so I'll stick with those.
  15. Who would be interested in skid plates for non-lifted subes? I would be interested in one similar to the AA offroad plates but aluminum and built for stock ride height. Anyone else looking for something like this? If there is enough interest I'm sure we can get someone to start making them. Something like this but for EA81s and 82s: http://www.writerguy.com/primitive/skid.htm
  16. Wow, its great to see all this new technology in these old subes! Keep me updated as well!
  17. The two peice driveshaft will be the right length if you weld in the carrier bearing. I had a custom shaft made so I wouldn't have to deal with welding, incase it is off at all.
  18. My friend says he has done a flush and that it hasn't done anything. The back tires will only spin if thier is about a 60mph diffrence between the front and back tires. when the back tires kick they instantly break loose.
  19. How is the stock of ea81s? Is the turbo coupe still there?
  20. I will recommend the tranny flush and see what other info I can get from him on the subject.
  21. Actually the GC8 2.5RS sedan was only 5lbs heavier than the coupe. My source is Sport Compact Car magazine.
  22. Looks GREAT!!! How did you stuff the speaker on the driver's side? Mine will only go in one way and even that is a tight fit. I like having the stock speakers so the fuse box doesn't move, I know its hard to tell, but I'm a nerd for factory appearence.
  23. Only two bolt holes in front? Is that going to hold up to bashing very well?
  24. Sorry, that last post was unclear. What I ment was that my friend can start to peel out with just the front wheels and then very gradualy torque will be transmitted to the rear wheels. The car is basically fwd until there is a large difference in speeds between the front and rear wheels.
