  1. Cool, that means I won't have to get a bigger flywheel at the J/Y this weekend!
  2. What size is the clutch on a 2wd non turbo XT?
  3. Would somebody be willing to snag the little rubber slide that keeps power steering fluid from dribbleing onto the belts? Does anyone know what I'm talking about?
  4. Ben, your OBS was sticking in her lane!!! "Oh she should have swerved!" "Oh that sex crazed teen tried to side swipe me!", its all relitive!!! But that does suck!
  5. There are two good ways of getting the tar off. First is to get a bunch of liquid nitrogen and pour in onto the tar, then use a hammer and chisel to break off big 'ole sheets of the tar. Barring that, use a hot air gun and a big, stiff putty knife to scrape it off, beware of burns though! On a side note, the tar in my turbo wagon was old enough that it kinda flaked off when I cut a larger hole for my 5 speed shifter.
  6. No good flywheel will vibrate, unless you cut a chunk out or welded something on. Not even in the EA82, they are designed to spin, vibration and spinning are not good friends. I have an EA82 flywheel on my turbo wagon and during my test drives, it never vibrated (I used a lengthened 1-pc driveshaft). My bet is that the driveshaft is not stright (If you used a 2-pc shaft) or that its not balanced (If its a 1-pc). or a wheel whight fell off or mud on the rim or something silly like that.
  7. I thought that you were supposed to fill your tank the whole way up so that no moisture would be able to get in and corrode the inside of the tank.
  8. Don't you love parts cars?!?! They make life SOOOOOO much easier! Replace it for sure! Why use old, rebuilt parts when there are good, original parts to be had?
  9. So if I want big valve heads on my 82 brat block, I'd need the lifters, push rods and rocker arms? Am I missing something or did I add something thats not necessary?
  10. Too much trouble to put the EA82 in an EA81 chassis.
  11. For the 5 speed you'll need an install kit from Jerry (bratsrus1). On another note, the answers to most of your questions will be found in a search since many have come before you.
  12. For your suspension heres what I'd do: Beefy struts. FRONT: http://www.subarubrat.com/frntshk.htm REAR: Rancho for a Toyota FJ60 might work if you lift the hatch but what has been tested is a top mount of XP7 and a lower mount of LS26 or simlilar. Get a shock length that matches your requirements. BRAKES: Rear discs WILL PROBABLY fit on your car. You'll never know until you try. POWER STEERING: Look for any EA81 that has power steering. EA81Ts came with PS, and it was optional on other cars. EA82 might work, but I doubt it.
  13. Maybe I missed it, but how did you lower the front end?
  14. One of those street racing games has one. I think PS2 or Xbox has it. Can't remember the name of the game, sorry.
  15. I'd love to come! Don't have a suitable car yet, but I do have a suggestion... Plan the next trip for a WEEKEND! I know lots of us go to school or work and can't just take the beginning of the week off (But I wish I could!).
  16. All EA82 engines are two valves per cylender, while all EJ engines are multivalve. The EA82 has 3 main bearings while the EJ has 5. EJ is still in use after approx. 15 years and the E!82 was last used in 1994, does that tell you anything about which engine is better? HAHAHA
  17. Didn't the owner say that it made like 283whp on a dyno? I know G-Tech's are mostly accurate for what they are (Accelerometers) that you would have gotten at least more than that EVEN WITH wheel spin and "wind resistance". Like everyone else has said, BULL!!!
  18. There are two main differences between the 15" and the 390mm. One is metric and one is SAE measurements. Metric was used by a few European manufacturers for a short amount of time, and when they stopped selling cars with metric wheels (390mm) tire manufacturers stopped making the matching tires in any noticable quantity. In fact I think only Bridgestone or Continental is the last tire company that makes these tires and they cost about $25 north of $200 A PEICE! My friend bought a pair from the junkyard for his BMW and when he found out that the price for replacement tires, he decided that once the originals wore out, the rims were in the garbage!
  19. YES 390 wheels will work but DON'T GET THEM!!! The tires for them cost over $200 a peice.
  20. Probably, if you have an adapter for the manifold. Show me pics and Ill be able to help you more.
  21. Yes, that would be a gen 1 car. Do you have pics of your setup?
  22. EA82 turbo cars had rear discs. If you have a 2WD car you need 2WD turbo rear discs. 4WD needs 2WD rear discs. They were never original on EA81s.
  23. Heres the email the guy sent me regarding the mounts: Link to pic: http://usmb.net/gallery/album215/EA81_rear_swaybar?full=1 Hope this helps some!
