  1. Ok, so if i was going to buy a weber to put on one of my cars, which model would be the best to use? I know next to nothing about the acronyms used by weber, so if you could clarify them, that would help. I've heard a lot of people using 32/36 or something, but ive also heard 38/38. what is the best one to use? this would be on an EA71 or EA81 depending on how soon the engine gets replaced.
  2. Matt, I was being serious. If you want to offroad, i would say get a carbd car for cheap, because the amount of work you would have to do to get all the turbo plumbing and wiring out and getting the carbd motor in. I might be willing to buy the wagon off you for the right price or if you just pull the engine ill buy that off you too!
  3. Matt, i seriously think that if you want to off road, get a factory carbd car. Putting a carbd engine in a turbo is sacralige!!! you just cant do it!!! If you do decide to lose the turbo engine ill buy it off you plus all the wiring and stuff.
  4. Matt you can always drop the car and the title off at my house!
  5. the gold colored tin above the bellhousing in front of the firewall. open it up and adjust the length of the throttle cable.
  6. I think my car has 138,XXX miles on it. It was in real good condition when we found it though, obviously not owned by some pot-head pimp!
  7. Mine passed the first time and wagonpowaa's BRAT passed first time too. never had problems with emissions so I cant give you any tips.
  8. I still gotta bany my tunnel a little tinsy bit and paint some surface rust. Oh and install some new exhaust gaskets. then Ive gotta get the glove box light to work and the cargo light too. and also a 4WD low light and switch. Yo Matt, the boost controller is almost done... hehehehe :bday:
  9. ill let you guys know, but first i have to source the parts... anyone have a junk 81 brat they wanna part???
  10. so the EA82 front brakes are larger in diameter and thickness... do they have a different offset, because if they dont i could just make some custom caliper mounting brakets.
  11. i dont think anyone has ever gotten this stuff. it was all pretty much in japan during the 80's and i doubt anything survived much less made it over here...
  12. hmmm sounds like im gonna have to get a DR tranny and measure the front diff area and compare to the SR... anyone got one they want to offer up for use in an expariment?
  13. Heres the spoiler And here are the racing pics you wanted
  14. actually i will be replacing the EA71 tranny with an EA81 tranny. i dont know how the EA81 tranny compaires to the EA82, but i still dont know why the steering would be tight, the tranny is nowhere the steering shaft.
  15. I plan on using a factory cross member, only it will be the one off of an 81 brat. i dont think ill need costum engine or tranny mounts if what McBrat is correct. speaking of McBrat, what did you mean by "steering issues"?
  16. im talking about EA82 onto EA81... anyone ever do this before?
  17. what about on a 4spd SR tranny? the part modded on the 4spd DR is longer and is secured a bit differently.
  18. ive done brakes before, but never on a soob... if you want help you have to come out here because i dont have a car right now.
  19. so if i get the engine and tranny cross members from an 81 GEN 1 brat I can install the 1800 and 4spd DR with out hurting the tranny tunnel?
  20. well after i got my tranny in in my NON-LIFTED wagon WITH Jerry's kit, there is only one place it is rubbing. there is a protrusion on the tranny, doesnt look important, but it doesnt touch when the car is sitting, but when its rocking around, it bangs around a bit. i think that ill just whack the tunnel a half inch or so. other than that and the 4WD light i didnt have any problems.
  21. ok so Ive been thinking of how to get more power out of the 1600 in wagonpowaa's BRAT, and Ive come to the conclusion that swapping in a 1800 would be the easiest way to go. so my question is how hard would it be to swap in an 1800 and a 4spd DR tranny? i know that the 1800 should go in realitivly easily but what about the tranny? I know that in '81 the BRATs got the 1800 and that they had a special bellhousing (Looking for one of these BTW) but did they still have th SR 4spd, or did it get switched to the DR 4spd? Also, what would need to be done to get EA82T rear discs on the same car? cant be that much different from an EA81, so why havent i heard of more people doing this?
  22. Ive done it. my clutch cable is the right length, i ended up swapping the pedal box from an 83 2WD 5SPD car. this required me to use that clutch cable as the new one i had purchased wasnt compatable, so there's an option Austin.
  23. i just needed to know if the EA82 rotor will bolt onto the EA81 hub so i can use EA82 rotors on my EA81 wagon. will it fit inside the caliper and not be off axis or anything.
