  1. Ok so I drove the BRAT today, and let me say WOW!!! The brakes are mushy and the shifter could be much tighter! NEEDS MORE POWER!!! Its so slow! I think an extra 60-70hp would do nicely! About the camber, as long as its not too bad in the negitive direction, then its ok with me! So the concensus is that a 4spd DR will fit but a 5spd DR wont?
  2. im sure that someone was messing around with it. i think it was a canadian guy, the one with the big hatch with the black and yellow striped tape on it.
  3. Never thought about swapping the whole front suspension uprights, but that sounds like it would work! Also im getting a RX tranny so ill see if they fit at all! Also I know that with some work (could someone repeate the steps) EA82 suspension can be put on the front of an EA81 car, so can I presume that if EA71 and EA81 chassis have similar front suspensions, i can get an RX suspension to fit?
  4. dude, that not supposed to be funny!!! no seriously, this thing should be pretty fast by the time im done with it. do you know if vented EA81 rotors and calipers will bolt on to the gen 1 hubs?
  5. thats pretty cool! unless for 81 they had a different body stamp that made the tranny tunnel wider. this should be a pretty easy swap! get ready for the ultimate drag brat guys! one more question, what about suspension and brake upgrades? these are really important, because my buddy wants to maybe race this. Corky, Qman, anyone know about suspension and brakes?
  6. i didnt know they made them with EA81 1800 engines. which brats did they come in? thats super cool!
  7. sorry i didnt mention the year earlier, its an 1980 not an EA81 car.
  8. went and looked at my carb'd parts car and i found the SOB. i think my hand is permantly deformed now though!!!
  9. 80 brat and 80 wagon are different gens. i know somebody else has done this, if they could step forward?
  10. hey all, my buddy might be getting one of these and he wants me to help him upgrade it. Can the 1800 EA81 engine be bolted in and on that note can a 5spd DR go in too? what about EJ engine and tranny EA81 brakes? thanks!
  11. Nope, Im 100% sure the flasher unit is unplugged. when i hit the turn signals or the hazards nothing happens in the dash or outside the car. besides i looked in the FSM for what the wires looked like and the plug i am looking at is the one for the flasher unit. where is the flasher unit?!?!?!
  12. GD you hit the nail on the head! im looking for the flasher unit!!! please help me!!!
  13. there is a black 4 plug connecter housing 3 wires that connects to the turn signal/ hazard unit. i need to know where the unit is so i can plug this connecter back in!
  14. My turn signals and hazards will not work and the reason i found is that the plug was never plugged back in after my Dad and I pulled the dash wiring harness. Can anyone very accuratly describe or photograph the location of the turn signal/ hazard unit for me? All the FSM says is that it is inside the insturment cluster. POS book...
  15. Ed, it didnt come with zirk fittings so im not worried. archemitis: i used the 1pc driveshaft that came out of my car and just made it longer.
  16. Hey Matt, I've got an extra 1pc driveshaft that you can take in. email me and we can come up with something. Morgan, I really havent done anything huge yet. Its an 84 turbo wagon. I replaced the 3spd auto with a 5spd DR. It has a K&N filter and some guages. Im getting a custom exhaust from the turbo back at some point, and plans for an lsd, intercooler, injectors, boost controller, etc. and I need to get some little things done, but it'll happen soon!
  17. HAHAHAHA!!! Got a call from Drivelines NW today right after school and went to pick up my new driveshaft to the tune of $206.xx! :cornfuzz: Oh well its just money after all! They even painted it nice and shiny and put a big shiny sticker on it. And the best part is it fits like a dream!!! For future referance from tip of the driveshaft side yoke to the other, 53 5/8 inches is perfect. At least thats what i remember. I could run out and check, but I got some HW I should be doing.
  18. Did the car have a rear LSD? If it did, I'm interested in it and maybe the tranny as well. I will email you right now.
  19. Do you have a website or something that has a bunch of pics? You are one of the few guys racing EA81s and im interested in seeing more!
  20. My girlfriend takes her camry there and has had good experience with the service.
  21. You know im talking about an 84, right? I always thought that that since the EJ is OHC that it was too wide to fit snugly, but if its just the radiator, then there is really no issue.
  22. So guys, whats the deal with this swap? I've heard a lot of talk on this subject but no difinitive answers! (Maybe i just missed them though!) Heres what I've heard so far: 1. To fit it you must have a 6" lift 2. Requires cutting of chassis 3. It can be done with out cutting or lift. Who knows for sure?
