The truth of the EA82T and intercoolers

Taking your engine's life in your hands there, friend. -
First off, I want that GSR sooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOooOOOoOooOO bad. Those wheels (both sets) look fantastic on that car. I wish I could get my hands on a set or three of them. How much do they weigh, if you know? Secondly, OH MY GAWD!!! That lifted GLF is nuts! Sweetest looking subaru I have seen yet, imho. Why did that guy have to disappear? He was super creative and really pushed things out of his shop that nobody else in the old school subaru world was doing. Dang.

Why are suby transmissions so heavy?
carfreak85 replied to zyewdall's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Some domestic transmissions don't include the bellhousing as part of the transmission, it can be a separate piece. You've got your answer: 4WD, beefy internals, bellhousing included. At least the case is made of aluminum, otherwise... -
New old-school parts cross reference

I tried posting up those pictures a million times. Either the link was forbidden or the Mods deleted my grossly oversized pic. Here's the link: http://community.webshots.com/user/car_freak85 It is the last image in the "Subaru Projects" album. -

Lemme go check.... (Runs outside) No, they don't, weird. -
Weak. You'd think someone on here would be a Justy fiend considering all the Subie lovers out there.

There. -
Does anyone know much about Justys? My buddy just bought a '91 EFI that needs a new timing belt, but I'm not sure what procedure to follow for changing it.

New old-school parts cross reference
carfreak85 posted a topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
A friend of mine asked me to come and give a 1991 Justy he wanted to buy a once over. I was doing this, and in the process of noting how similar this Justy was to my hatch (white, two door, part time 4WD, etc.) I noticed that they actually shared a common part. The rear window latch on a Gen 2 Justy two door is the same as on an EA81 hatchback. #7 in the photo below. -
Hair-brained ideas from a guy who cant sleep
carfreak85 replied to The Beast I Drive's topic in Off Road
I got excited when I read your post because I have both a hartop and a hatch, so I had to see if this was possible. I just checked my '83 parts catalog, and I'm gonna have to disagree with your findings. It says the tail-lights are common part numbers to the 4 door and hardtop models, but the hatch uses a different backing plate. I think that Subarino had found a hatch, which was never officially imported to Australia by the way, with busted tail-lights and since the car was never imported, SoAu didn't have any spares for the hatch specific stuff. To solve the no tail-light problem he modded a set of hardtop tail-lights to fit his car. http://community.webshots.com/album/82375733opxCiZ?vhost=community&start=36 Can you tell I like my new scanner? -
Back when Wagonpowaa owned my BRAT, he could get almost 30 MPG with his Hitachi. With the Weber he was a couple MPG down, but not much. This is on a stock Gen 1 BRAT.

Yes. Should help both, but more noticeable on the coolant. -
Did anyone else feel like they were watching that in slow motion? 1st gen subies don't make good car chase material. Still super cool though!

hey you oregon and washington guys....

Whatever guys, whoever buys the car can do whatever with it. I think a 4WD coupe would be super cool. Better than an obsolete FWD subie at least! -

Hey, not to give you any more work or anything, but I have some higher-res, more complete brochures and a crap load of magazine scans if you're interested in adding them to the page. -
There was an article in SubieSport awhile back, unless it was some other magazine. That's pretty cool! 40whp gain? Sign me up! Oh, yeah... I'm broke... :-\

EA81 4spd to EA82 5spd swap roll call...
carfreak85 replied to TheSubaruJunkie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I too used Jerry's kit, but when mounting the shifter I used an existing stud that was in the transmission tunnel, worked perfectly too. On the 4WD shifter, I had to create a mount on the inside of the tunnel and drill a pair of holes. -

Stubbies are the same on the EA81/2 trans as long as they are both N/A trannies (Normally asperated, not North American). -

Awesome, I like the graphics a lot! Did you put them on or did it come like that? Looks like you're using the car for what it was built to do and having a great time with it! I've got an '80 BRAT, but haven't got it to a reliable, running condition yet.
