That is exactly the move Subaru is currently making. The current Legacy shows this quite clearly. Some have noticed that the starting price for Subarus have been creeping upward. At the same time, they have increased their market share considerably. The company is already in a niche market. Compact and mid-sized AWD cars with odd engines and a strong performance to boot. I think subaru will need to start making two wheel drive vehicles, and it would be neat to be able to pick a FWD, RWD or AWD Impreza in its next iteration. It would be super easy for Subaru to do. They have the currently unused FWD technology sitting on a shelf, AWD in full production mode. Our community has proven that they can be RWD too, hell my wagon will wag its tail with the best of them now (drifting reference)! This new platform proves again that Fuji has been listening closely to the enthusiest market for the last few decades. And we have seen this car before... I think that Subaru saw the reaction to the Prodrive P2 and decided to go into production with a watered down version. Just as before, we know that Subaru really means LEGO, and it would be super easy for them to "STI" this new platform and vaulting it above the current STI as the new corperate "halo car".

I'll be at WCSS10 this year in my cheap (fast) wagon, waiting to race... Anyway, if they aren't stainless I'll pass. I would only be getting one to slap on a dyno and compare to my header (stainless). If it won't outlast the one I have on there, there is no point in getting one. -

Lies. What angle are the pie pieces welded at? Anything more than 14 degrees will cause flow seperation on the inside of the radius, reducing the velocity of the exhaust gas column and thus lowering HP potential. -
Get the link from your brother and post it up in this thread...

Caboob, you want to forward that info to me? Beataru - Would it be a real TWE part, or a copy? I would pay that for a TWE part, but more like $200 for a copy. It would have to be stainless and mandrel bent. -
Where did you read that? I don't disagree, but I'd like to check it out for myself.

Check out this press for the most recent and car punishing event, the Acropolis Rally in Greece. Hats off Fuji, looks like another incredible car! http://wrc.com/jsp/index.jsp?lnk=101&id=1494&desc=%E2%80%98Risky%E2%80%99%20new%20car%20strategy%20pays%20off%20for%20Subaru http://www.rallye-info.com/article.asp?sid=0&stid=7025 http://www.rallye-info.com/article.asp?sid=0&stid=7032 http://wrc.com/jsp/index.jsp?lnk=101&id=1509&desc=New%20Subaru%20scoops%20WRC%20award http://www.rallytorrents.com

Sold me on both I think! What sizes will they be available in? I'd like a pair of large hotwheels ones for my hatch. Like 12"x6" or something BIG!

I didn't even know you could still get these. If possible, how much did you get it for? I might get one for comparison purposes. -
Lighter components mostly. If it's steel, I want it in aluminum. If it's AL, I want it titanium. I could get this stuff from Ram or Paeco, but I'd like to get it locally if supply and cost will permit.

SWEET wagon!!! Where did you get that front lip?!?

Both of your previous pictures of the modified frame rails look like the driver's side, correct? Do you have pics of the passenger's side? -
*sigh* Another EA82T car...

Bump. Still want your "international" parts. Willing to trade USDM parts or cash! -
Not sure about the crossmembers, but the EJ gearbox is going to be a tight squeeze. If I had the proper box I could fit it up to my '75 wagon and find out.

EJ22 1981 Brat Write Up
carfreak85 replied to jimbob_goatboy's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
How much does the engine rock around when you get on it? I'm wondering if the clearence could be made leaving more original material than on yours. I'm not much of a fabricator, so as little as I have to do, the better. -
What is your favorite Gen1 mod?
carfreak85 replied to carfreak85's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Cool. I have two cars that both want that mod right now. I don't really feel like rebuilding front drum brakes when I know that the Brat parts will bolt on. Any other mods folks have done? -
EA81T performance page.
carfreak85 replied to Jerry DeMoss's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Recently picked up a spare EA81T long block that will slowly get rebuilt and put in one of my cars. Mild rebuild on this one, light port work, maybe some experimenting on the bottom end. I think I will copy some of the procedures outlined for the factory EA82 rally cars, see what kind of a difference they make. Basically a budget build. The engine this replaces will be a balls out version with 4 port heads and cryo treatment and some coatings on the internals. Not trying to build an engine for all out power, just to get power to where Subaru should have set it in 1984. -

Are the Gen1/2/3 classes going to be lumped with engine-swapped cars like last year, or seperate like at WCSS8? -
What is available for EA81 in the valvetrain department? I'm looking for springs, retainers and lighter pushrods.
