  1. I was able to reproduce it yesterday, but when I started it up just now to drive four blocks to my house, I'm not sure it made the noise. Not sure what the pitch of the sound is and won't have access to a stethiscope until Friday.
  2. On a WRX and other new subarus, many say those wheels look small, even in a 17" size. I think you just created the first GL DUB Edition!!
  3. This might be close to what you're after. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=74588&highlight=headlight+conversion
  4. Lets make it four in a row! I actually recently installed RX front springs onto EA81 4WD struts using the EA81 strut top. Works fine but is stiff and underdamped. Still wondering about the brakes though. Could EA82 front brakes be modified to fit an EA81?
  5. Just wondering if you dropped one in. How do you know this? Looking to do the same. In the research stage...
  6. Jibs, can you take a picture of your brats crossmembers from below? I can compare them to my '80. Does anyone have any measurements of the depth, width and height of the EJ22?
  7. Last night, our WRX developed a knocking sound in the front of the car, presumably from the engine. It only happens at a partial throttle opening and between 3,000 and 4,200 RPM. If I floor it at those RPMs, it sounds and goes like normal. Same at lower RPM crusing. There is no knocking sound at idle. I changed the oil and filter on Saturday and it is still full and not leaking. Any theories?
  8. Yeah, they aren't too expensive. A few hundred bucks should get you a nice one. Same deal with older BMW V12s. They are dirt cheap because to run them in anything but a bimmer, you need a stand alone engine management. A shop near me just dropped one into an older Range Rover.
  9. Does anyone have any new leads or experience with upgraded clutches?
  10. I'm sorry, but how can Hydro power be considered low impact? In Washington at least this kind of production is desimating salmon runs at an unheard of rate. In fact, besides Alaska, there is not a single "healthy" salmon run on the west coast of America. Any time a hydro dam in built, the local ecosystem is irriversably changed. There is no such thing as a free lunch, and hydro is not going to get us there. Go solar baby!! Also, because farmers are switching to corn and have been for years (stupid government subsidies), the price of hops and barley are going up. This increases the cost of everyones favorite drink, BEER!
  11. Mine started life like this: And ended up like this:
  12. I don't think we have enough combined dyno experience to really say for sure where the upper limits of EA82T power are. The best we have are those two or three people who have dyno'ed their cars. They have hard evidence, and anything we speculate is just that... speculation. Build it, dyno it and then get back to us. As for the suspension, newer legacy stuff can be modded to work in the rear and pretty much any EJ stuff can be made to work with a front 5 lug conversion.
  13. I did the exact same swap last summer. Earlyish XT-T engine into '88 GL-10-T. Only problems I had was swapping over the GL TPS sensor and some vacuum stuff. That was because I kept the XT manifold. Everything else was a direct swap. Go for it and have fun!
  14. And also make more power than un-equal length. Two thumbs WAY up!
  15. Yeah, look around, then report back here!
  16. On the coupes at least, that rear subaru badge has a key hole in it. Sloppy people may have scratched off her chrome in the past. Looking good Connie! Keep up the good work and keep us updated!
  17. Earplugs worked wonders for me last year. Don't know if you've gone that route yet.
  18. Just wondering if there will be an engine swap class this year, and if it will be enforced? Seems silly to have such custom rigs classes with factory ones. Why was the class dropped last year anyway?
  19. I've already got the event preview and all three episodes. Eric, you are the very definition of a fairweather fan. How long ago did you lose interest in the Sonics? I'm sure if we ran three to five team$ like Ford doe$ we could win the championship easily.
  20. It all depends on how tired and rusty it is. A 100% perfect, rust free, kept in a bubble Brat would fetch well over $5k maybe more for a Gen1. On the flip side, I bought a beat up and rusty 75k mile 1982 Brat years ago for $250.
  21. Another 3rd place for Chris Atkinson!
  22. That looks perfect. I'm a fan of the overrider delete as well, miles of nice smooth chrome.
