Seriously going to put sti motor/drivetrain into wagon
carfreak85 replied to Jeepman775's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
The difference is quite noticable between a wrecked GDB and GDA, but there are other ways of slipping a 2.5 into your car. However, you can pick up an OEM EJ257 shortblock in this part of the country for about $1,700. When engine blew in my buddy's GGA (didn't blow) he installed this short block and ported WRX heads with larger valves with some mild bolt ons and a reflash, its almost a dead heat versus our bone stock '07 STI in a straight line. I think he dyno'd at 230+ awHP and 260+ awTQ. That is an option too. -
Where to mount water temp sender?
carfreak85 replied to carfreak85's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I'm running an OEM thermostat (not sure what temperature), twin-OEM electric fans and a water cooled factory turbo. I don't think I need a fan running constantly this far North, but I would like to put one of them on a switch. My only concern is, what sensor am I removing to be replaced by the new one? I'd like to keep the stock sender for comparisons sake, but at the same time, I want to get the most accurate data. Thats in your upper radiator hose, correct? Didn't you have yours mounted somewhere else too? -

Are these possible to get (lights)
carfreak85 replied to tizzle's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
If there are any, I'd like a pair! -
Sweet job on the new radiator support, I wonder how far that idea can be taken as far as putting some electric fans on the front of the rad and moving the whole assembly closer to the engine. Might have to massage the fenders, but ultimate attack angle would be amazing As for those tires; :Flame:any surface.....except pavement! Niiiiiiice.

I see you have a Digi-Trash as well. Since we're on the subject of compairing cars, lets see the digi-dash the Southern Hemisphere received. -

Possessed underhood component: A common part?
carfreak85 replied to carfreak85's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Ed, XTs aren't EA81s... Did they have an EA81T? I'll probably head out there tomorrow morning. -

I can't seem to find anything in my FSM or supplement that comments on exactly what that part is. Where did you find this evidence? I would love for it to be for the 3AT (Thats what I first thought it was), but I would like to be sure. -
so you bellingham folks, have you seen this subaru??
carfreak85 replied to Rooinater's topic in Off Road
No, I haven't seen it. Looks crazy though. -

"A/C Circ Max" is all the way to the left on our slider in the last picture. To the right of that is "A/C" then "Bi-level" then "heat" and on the far right is "defrost". Ross, do you have any close up pictures of your HVAC stuff? -

Correct! Just a Subaru badge in the U.S. -
A few days ago after exiting the highway and slowing to the point that I could hear it, I noticed that this part was clicking and making noise. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=19015&size=big&cat=500 http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=19014&size=big&cat=500 You can feel it doing this. It hasn't had an effect on driveability yet. This in on an EA81T, but I was wondering if this part is common on other EA81 vehicles. Common enough that I could just go to the junkyard and get the part or if I have to start looking for a donor turbo car. I've looked at my books, but can't find definitive evidence as to what part that exactly is. This is where you come in. Is it one of the two connectors marked in red? Or maybe the relay looking thing marked in green? http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=19017&ppuser=18 http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=19016&ppuser=18 Any help or insight you can provide would be invaluable.

Do you have a close up of the control panel for your car? And of how those buttons actually control that thing? I'm thinking that this could be a sweet upgrade for my wagon if someone out there can source most of the parts and maybe some of the FSM pages regarding the system. I actually want a bunch of stuff that we didn't get here. EA81 height adjustable seats, headlight washers, front fender marker lamps, etc., etc. -
Boeing Everett West parking lot, Sunday the 27th. I'll be there!
