That's the difference 115k miles makes. 3000 is pretty good deal.....and if your lookin to drive it all the time you may be happier with the slightly updated version..even with higher miles...better fuses, Wipers, tilt column and headlight/grill replacement easier. Better clutch.(225mm vs. 200). The 82 would still be my pick just form a collectable stand point.

This is my 4th and my 8th subie. I am the 3rd and the 6th owner (First owner was subaru dealer mechanic.....second was an Aussie guy ) (bought and sold it, bought it back again) Purchased it with around 190k in 2005......sold it in 2006 with just over 200k Bought it back in 2010 with 280k on the original engine....which died ......which is why I bought it back again. Painted it (it was afgan military beige or whatever that "blahhhh"color is) Dropped an EJ in it with an AWD 4.11 5spd and 2" lift Just turned 300k last month on a trip to WA to deliver a lift kit. -

Brats are priceless. They are a unique vehichle, even in their own time......and now even more so since all the 80's cars are nearly gone. They will only go up in value from now on. Especially rust free west coast ones. I support sellers who want full value out of their Brats

All second gen brats are Dual Range 4wd. all first gens are 4wd but not all Dual range. There are no 2wd brats
-
The first one is a better deal. Includes a topper (hard to find) Has it's OE engine and Carb (easily rebuildable and keeping it stock is the way to go for keeping future value). 135k is low miles.......3700 is a pretty good price if it's all there and intact.

You need the whole transmission.....not just a T-case. Subaru's don't really have a transfer case. You want a Whole D/R trans from a 85-89 GL model. And an Adapter plate and Flywheel. Search

1990 Loyale AWD Turbo Cooling Fan
Gloyale replied to rain_man_rich's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Wrong. Electric is the main. Only cars with A/C got the clutch fan on the water pump. Any EA82 electric fan will work. -
Don't know about the top jackets but that big traingle hole is for the case half bolt access. No coolant flow in there......that's why the gasket blocks it.

retrofitting a dual range for center diff lock possible?
Gloyale replied to marcusgl10z28's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
Yeah the math is final drive = Engine RPM:wheel rotation Turbo trans should be fine to turn 30's Final drive is taller (3.7) but the 2nd -5th ratios are lower......If my math is right, you shold be actually lower freeway geared with the Turbo trans. 5th gear N/A = 0.780:1 5th gear Turbo= 0.871:1 N/A 3.9 x 0.780= 3.042 Turbo 3.7 x 0.871= 3.2227 So you would actually be looking at taller freeway gears with the N/A trans. 1st is the only gear where the Turbo trans is taller gears at the stub. My 2.2 powers my wheeler w/30's thru a D/R......and its fine on the freeway. 65mph @ 2100rpms .......4th for hills but what's wrong with that? -
Cold weather, turn signal switch freezes up?
Gloyale replied to TheWanderer's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Sounds like the screws that hold the switch assembly stationary on the column......are missing. Is all the column plastic there? check for screws in all the holes they should be. If they are missing the whole unit can rotate around the steering column. Buzzing is probably the turnsignal flasher unit tripping out from a poor contact or crossed circuit.
