  1. Yes....3 marks = one cam staight up, one straight down. these are the belt installation marks. 0TDC= dots diagonally up/out and down/out for disty installation at #1 cyl this is the Disty install proceedure, or a good double check to see if the disty is 180 out. Firing order is 1324 cyls arrangment looking at engine from front of car. 3 4 1 2
  2. Diagrahm is correct, but doesn't show the SMJ If the OP cut out his SMJ I'll bet that the problem is there.
  3. Try another Transistor. Just for double check test the signal wire for the front 2 cyl.....It's either the red/green(R/G) or the blue(L) one in that connector....whichever is on the "Front" will be that wire. A test light between that wire and the Yellow/red(Y/R) wire in the center while running should pulse. Between the engine harness and the transistor/ignitor those wires run throught the SMJ. Red/green through M2 of SMJ Blue thorugh L2 of SMJ
  4. Did you rotate the crank 360 between installing the belts? The cam marks should be 180 from eachother, and should point diagonally up n out, and down and out Pass/drivers side respectively when the crank is at TDC compression. It would also be helpful to know what excact model....I'm assuming EA82, but is it MPFI or SPFI?
  5. Channel locks opened up wide, with the jaws stuck straight into the notches. I've only needed a punch to loosen them the initial bit.
  6. Could be a TPS (throttle position sensor) malfunction. Any check engine codes?
  7. TY752VABBA Is listed twice. Once for 96 impreza, at 3.9 And again for 96 Legacy Outback as 4.11 I'm inclined to believe the later is correct, as that's the trans I have in my 86 GL......it's definatley 4.11 (I had it apart and counted ring and pinion teeth) But indeed, Legacy Outback 5spds from 96-99 are 4.11 Not sure about 95, as those were still basically regular legacies with a trim package (no lift, no larger tires) I could see them being 3.9
  8. WOW! That's the first time I'm ever seen a subaru roll wheeling.....I knew it could happen...but to see it.....crazy. Glad you are O.K. The Fozzy will live on.....if on;y in spirit.
  9. You absolutely can use it as long as it is above the bed. They add propane to cummins diesels all the time, and it's perfectly legal as long as the tank is above the bed and secured. BBQ tanks are even fine like that. It's a below deck or "enclosed" installation that requires specifically certified tanks (like RV tanks)
  10. Probably make it back up in less than an hour once that EJ22T is hummin'
  11. Hmm...... Maybe I'm under charging. I charge $120 plus the bearing and seals. Only ever had a few that I had to take to the machinist for a larger press. mine is 12 tons......his is 40
  12. Dim and always on? Hmm......something isn't right. They should go off with key. Seems like someone nust have messed with something in the circuit. Check for signs that the headlight connectors ahve been molested. Perhaps someone had HID lights in there.....which sometimes the controller gets grounded directly.
  13. Engine braking affects the balance and fore/aft pitch of the car in a different way than simply braking. driving aggressive into a corner.....if you ride the brakes into the corner and then try let off and power out the weight transfers more abruptly.....not to mention the risk of the inside rear tire lifting and then locking up....espescially in wet conditions....not what you want when you are hanging on to the road with every ounce of grip the tires have. This is not how race drivers do it. On the other hand, braking lightly, while downshifting (heel n' toe) before the corner....then letting the engine braking do the rest of the slowdown as you enter the corner, then throttle on as you exit shifts the balance of the car smoothly, without ever risking ANY wheel lockup. This is how the pros rock. There is a reason that professional drivers of all types use engine braking for MANY situations. There are some cases where it's not nessecary of course. But there are lots more in my opinion where maximum control of the vehichle means Rev matching, downshifting, and engine braking.....in combination with the brakes. I don't really care about clutch wear vs. brake wear......meaningless compared to control and safety.
  14. Corvallis is barely 2 maybe 2-1/2 hours.
  15. Which door? Power or manual? I've got power one I can ship, either door.
  16. They should have had the dumbie's hands bracing against the wheel. More realistic that way. Still would be pretty bad. I've seen the effects of a 40mph crash head on into a tree in a EA82 body. Come to think of it that guy did break his nose
  17. Piston slap. That year engine is known for it. I see a rear fender power antenna and a sunroof. "Ls" model I believe.
  18. Damn.....that SUCKS. My first Subaru was named "Crash" I bought it and had it for less than 2 weeks. My GF was driving me home from the dentist getting my tooth pulled........She stopped for a yellow light.....the electrians van behind us didn't (talking on cell phone before it was illegal, 2000) Massive whiplash cause i was in the passenger seat and my GF at the time was short, so headrest was low and my head snapped over it, instead of against it. I wasn't even driving and we got hit no our fault and my insuracnce went up! Glad you and your girl are OK.
  19. Your subaru has a perfectly good intake already. Cold air form inside the fender well. Messing with it is for ricers.
  20. I am breaking my earlier promise not to post here again in order to agree with John. I really wasnt' trying to rain on anyones parade. Damn static inflection of text. Anyhow.....I think my next post on this subject WILL be in another thread. Rooster, and any others sorry to offend or suggest ya'll are "cheap hacks" lol. I can toatally see the value of the remedy in a bottle sometimes, for some cars and owners. Like I said, these customers are not gonna go for trans-x again.....so I need to identify the real issue....that's all.
  21. Wow...... Call me crazy.....but stripping a donor car harness sounds WAY easier. And the software is already written pretty darm well. If you want to be able to tune....get an 02+ WRX harness ECU.....those have been hacked more than US goverment by China. Not hating the project......by all means I'd love to see it. Just not what I'll be doing as the software aspect is over my head.
  22. That's how they came in 99. Some have just a blank rectangular seal in the second one (middle). I run this setup on my 86 GL with an EJ22 in it....I like the extra protection from dust. Make super sure the second one is sealed in correctly, it's downstreamn from the MAF, so if it doesn't seal right the Metered air will be all wrong.
  23. This sounds odd. Are you sure the front and rear diff ratios are the same? I've seen wrong ratios in the rear end cause very weird vibrations.....espescially in the 4EAT where the rear isn't fully powered all the time.
  24. There was an exerimental 12cyl in a race car in the 80's Slow, unreliable......never finsished a race if IIRC.....subaru FTL!!!....wait, that's not right.
