Hmm....ECU should trigger it on around 205 relay config sounds correct. maybe switch the 85 and 86.....the relay coil might not like revered curr3nt?

Actually......if you get a PS bracket from a 90-91 Legacy.........the pump Old GL pump will bolt straight into that bracket. Gotta change the pulleys...but otherwise it does fit.......... It still moves the pump relative to were it would be on an EA.....so youd still have to bend the EA lines some. It's really the same as just using EA lines all the way to an EJ pump.......which works too.... 100 ways to skin this cat.

Well....I don't know what the fark happened......the internets had a seizure when I tried to post a Youtube link on the same thread as a bunch of Photobucket stuff (hench the resulting code convulsion, see above) Too busy now to repost pics.....gotta spend some time this weekend with the family. Here's the dashcam video

You can use the Engine and Trans and rear diff. Everthing else would need fabrication. I have a EJ22 and an AWD 4.11 5spd in my 86........Had to make a custom crossmember (modified GL front piece,Legacy center, Flatbar steel rearpiece) And I needed a front driveline section 2" shorter than stock GL. Use GL turbo axles.

Wow......Yeah........but then you spend 2 days with a soldering iron and if you confuse any wires you won't know where to start again unless you ping each pi end to end to check wires.... There are also lots of 12v Ig. switched wires that don't come from the ECU......they come straight from the fusebox to the things like Transitor, Coil, EGR solenoid, IAC valve, purge, and Injector power. So those are many items were you need to make lots of juntions out to individual items at the intake. Too much risk of messin things up.....Plus the added expense of wire, solder, shrink wrap.......and If you make it yourself, where do you get all the different colors of wire??? Seems like you'd end up with lots of same color wires going everywhere. IDK.....my mind just doesn't have a problem with wiring diagrahms and big bundles.......I find it WAAAAY easier to strip down a harness that's already setup. 1hour to pull the harness.......1 hour to strip it. Maybe 1 more hour to label everything if I'm shipping it out to others to install. (experience makes it quicker) That way you can still use factory wiring diagrahms. Only reason I would consider anything like this is to delete the SMJ from 90-94 Leggy harnesses. my $.02

The grounds on the frame don't affect the engine running. All ECU grounding happens at the bolt on the intake manifold. I'll bet it's just the coil

What is this thing on the bottom of my engine?
Gloyale replied to Sandrion's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Nah....there were lots like that.....espescially after 92..... Loyales have alot similarities with the old DL models. -
Yes. The pressure plate is setup to have a distance, x, between it's face and the Flywheel when it's completely "clamped" The friction disc has a thickness of X + ~.10 ~ .20" so that it takes up all the space between the Fly and PP and gets gripped between them. When the friction material wears to a thickness of Less Than X then you get nothing......disc is sitting in dead space between the Fly and PP.

egr issue, manifold different?
Gloyale replied to elgigante's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Some of them didn't. The block must have been replaced with one that did have it. -
Wiring harness connector questions
Gloyale replied to SmashedGlass's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Nah.....this car is D/R with a lever....no button. And the button is a 3 pole switch. If he had a pushbutton it would connect to a 3 pole blue connector. There is no ground in the pushbutton connector. -
I actually preffer non-isul crimp w/no solder and then heat shrink........most solders actually create corrosion later. Like I said...this is a beta test.......everything is just rigged up for now........at the very least there will be lots of electrical tape, corrogated loom, and zipties to lock everything down before it will see any real offroading.

It's pressurized oil straigh out the gallery........They can go from bad to worse quickly......and you lose alot of oil and some pressure out to the end of the block. A few hundred miles and you can be low enough on oil to kill the engine.... By contrast, the Power steering leak only affects the power steering pump, not the engine.

TOW ? 4x4 xt-4 driveshaft back half removed ?
Gloyale replied to ruparts's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
You can also just remove the rear section of the driveline. Leave the front section mounted in the trans and at the carrier bearing. Easier I think than pulling both axles.....that can be a pain if they are rusty and unbolting shock at the bottom and jacking whole car up. But either way then dolly tow will be fine. -
If you look closely.....all the "vital" ones like CTS, TPS, Injector power etc.....are non-insul crimped and then shrink wrapped. Other wires like Purge, ERG (which this engine doens't have) IAC and FICD and a bunch of the redundant grounds are cheap crimped. The engine wiring is 5 ft above the ground too so I doubt it's gonna see TOO much mud up there. It's good enough for now.....mostly I just needed to get all the wires swapped around correctly in the harness to make it run.......Later I will non-insul crimp, and shrink wrap all of them........But honestly It's gonna have an EJ by that point with a whole new harness....I just used this as a "beta" engine.... I fear not electrical gremlins.....I know every wire and they are all exposed and easy access so troubleshootin is easy!!! OH yEAH!!! I drove it today.....just moved it around the shop but shifter and clutch adn all drivelines are all in stuffed a radiator up front cause I haven't worked out the plumbing yet to the back but man oh man is it sweet.........CRAWLS in 1st-lo-lo.

Wiring harness connector questions
Gloyale replied to SmashedGlass's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Okay.....scratchin my head over "A" I am pouring over FACTORY FSM so I have the best info out there. What I find is.......I was incorrect obviously about were the relay goes..... But indeed that connector is related to the power window cord..... 88 FSM shows a picture of a connector, labeled R12 in the picture. that looks like it could be our guy "A"...But the matching chart SKIPS from R11 to R13..?!? Further....R11 is said to connect to "P2 Center wiring harness or power window main harness <->rear wiring harness" That's the word for word. Now....I look for the same connector in the 87 FSM.....and there IS and R12 listed in the chart..... From the FSM. R11 4 pole brown connects to "center wiring harness"------(no matching pin noted)? R12 4 pole brown connects to P2 "power window main harness" So.....what the heck???? No listing for the connector in 88 and P2 hooks to the other one???? -
90's Loyale Mileage/ Purchase info
Gloyale replied to DJA's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Looks suspiciuosly like a turbo model. That would make sense why blown gaskets.... Get it convert to carb or non-turbo MPFI. -
Wiring harness connector questions
Gloyale replied to SmashedGlass's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
A is what I said......It's were the Power window relay is. The connector is not pink**(correction it is) here in the US. But this is a different one right next to it,brown....sunfaded he's calling it tan. You info is for AUSDM and may be correct for there.....But "A" in this post I am absolutley %100 positive......FSM ID's the location and wire colors excactly for 88. Car would be SPFI....we got no Carbs after 87.\ Clutch swtich wiring is in all cars the switch itself is not. Also ID'ed in the FSM down to connector color and pins. -

1987.5 -EA82T- fuel pump relay?
Gloyale replied to BoostedBoxer421's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
If you have the Green test connectors hooked up it will cycle the fuel pump and the Boost controll solenoid continually.
