  1. Today I took the old silver enkies in to Les Schwab because they seemed to have a slow leak (well, 2 of them). They recommended new rims because the old bead was in bad shape. I am not sure what would cause that (curb rash, oxidation, ?). Has anyone else had this problem and is there a solution or just check the air more often?
  2. I had an '82 (110,000 miles) that drove beautifully on the highway, It tracked great but it would only go about 65 because it was a 4 spd. I am sure there is nothing inherently 'sloppy' about early sub highway handling if you get a decent one.
  3. A new autozone TO bearing was installed. I greased the shaft lightly and made sure the return springs were tight, it looked great (i thought) before I put the engine in. The bearing slid smoothly on the shaft and the springs pulled it back toward the tranny. What kind of damage can a bad TO bearing do if thats what it is? I sure dont want to take the engine out again this soon if I dont have to.
  4. I put a new clutch kit in the RX (along with the jdm engine) and it squeals and when I wiggle the clutch fork side to side it stops/starts/stops. I can find a sweet spot where it stops sqealing but it does not seem to stop for long. When i put the clutch in and out it chirps. after i put the engine in I adjusted the clutch all the way out then back in until the fork was just pusing on the bearing a little. Should i even be able to wiggle the clutch fork like that? it only moves a little, like about 1/4" or less. What did i screw up THIS time?
  5. your funny, my name is major lazy for a reason. When i had the excuse to stop work, I did. Thanks for the info!
  6. WELL i said shaft but i think the one i was talking about is the same you say goes around the snout in the little groove. The little ones i am wondering about (2 provided) are small orings about the size of a dime, sub part #13089AA010. So when i change the oil pump there should just be 2 rings correct? the mickey mouse and the snout?
  7. I am in the process of installing the new oil pump and gaskets that were supplied with my JDM ea82t. There were 4 gaskets in the box with the oil pump: the mickey mouse, one round one that goes around the shaft and 2 other small ones labled O ring - CMS case. so yea I should know but what where do the small 2 go? I did not see them when I took the old pump out.
  8. muahahahaaaa look for a rocker switch on top of the steering column. It got me too. BTW this would be 'new gen' actually not older.
  9. BAH responsibility! Yea i totally hear you, I expected to swap intakes, etc. I guess the half of a bolt in the block was just extra bonus material! I was just irritated when I went to put the engine in. I never checked the MM holes because it sat on the ground from the time it was delivered until I went to put it in. Just never crossed my mind to check. If I had a full on shop with a welder, air compressor etc it would be no big deal but I guess most people who do this do. I will get over it, its mostly time not too much $$$. Gonna try to weld on bolts this week when I can borrow a welder.
  10. Yea your probably right GD, but hey here I am. the bolts are not broken btw they are cut flush with the block (well, 2 of them, 1 has a nub left haning out). Does it seem feasable to weld a nut on the inside? I dont have a welder but a friend does, ill try that. Thx
  11. The bolts were clearly cut with a torch of some kind. They also cut the exhaust pipe and damaged one of the turbo exhaust studs, i was concerned when i saw that, but the nut threads off/on just fine. One other thing I can't understand is why they cut the harness. On my car the harness is simply 2 quick disconnects, takes 45 sec instead of 25 sec to cut the wires. Are they really in that big of a rush in Japan to get the motors out?? If the engine was going back into a RHD car that would be the height of stupidity I would think. I will call the company next week and let you all know how it turns out, until then I don't want to give someone a bad name when they have not been made aware of the situation. Thanks for the offer of help, I think i should be able to get them out I PB blasted them and they are soaking now. I have EZ outs, the only thing I need is a steel drill bit, but if you want to come over and help I may try to get the bolts out Sunday evening around 6.
  12. Well I coughed up $750 for a jdm for the RX, another $200 for clutch, gaskets etc and went to put it in today and discovered at the last minute.....the damn motor mount bolts had been cut off!! yea 3 out of 4 had been cut right out leaving the block hole filled with a messy bolt. So i had to pull it back out of the car and now need to go spend more $$ on a steel bit and some easy outs. Is this common with JDM's? for gods sake how hard is it to pull 4 bolts. just a *************** session more than anything, but I do have a question: is this reason enough to ask for my $$ back?
  13. press ontot he holder i think is the question.
  14. The mags are worth $2.50 a piece, but since I am such a nice guy I will DOUBLE that and give you $5. Ill be pick them up this week
  15. LOL An ea82 set will show up eventually Cara, just keep your eyes peeled, they are all over the place. I assume you do NOT want me to ship the EA81's I have? I will keep my eyes peeled around here for you.
  16. These are NOT jackman wheels simply EA-81 white spoked wagon wheels. I remember reading that EA81 wheels will not fit EA82's on the front. (I am selling the ea81 wagon wheels)
  17. Go to the nearest chinatown with $40, the characters are the same in most languages, your bound to find someone willing...to read the magazines that is
  18. Thx Numb, yea that makes sense. The only thing was I looked up the RX to get those #'s and Im pretty sure they never came 2wd, but at least like you say they did specify. I guess the 1" is the inner diameter of the shaft so if I match my dimensions all else should work out correct? ie all pressure plates/bearings with the 8 7/8" x 1" x 24 spline clutch will fit other cars with the same size clutch disc? Thx again
  19. OK, i've read these threads and just cant seem to sort this out. I am looking for an inexpensive clutch kit for the RX. I went to Rockauto and the cheapest 2 are described like this: BRUTE POWER Part # 92034C More Info {Cover Type: Diaphragm; 7 7/8x21Tx7/8 #92034B} 2WD; Diaphragm; 7 7/8x21Tx7/8 ACDELCO Part # 381673 {replaces 88989713 #19182661, 88989713} PLATE KIT,CLU PRESS & DRVN (with CVR) [uS vehicles]; w/2WD; DIAPHRAGM 7 7/8X21TX7/8 I cant even decipher the #'s...is it 7 7/8 " diam, 21 spline, 7/8" thick? The fact that it says 2wd scares me. I know someone said Rockauto has never been wrong, but it would not surprise me if i was the first. I went to the valeo site and it does not list the RX, just an 1800 then has a turbo option but that one is described like this: 8 7/8 x 1 x 24 , 4WD; Turbo ,52254801 Something is not right here....(could be me) Can anyone tell me if these will fit my car? Update: just realized I could go measure the clutch...DUH. Its a 8 7/8" diameter, 24 spline so i think rock auto is wrong. so if I match those #'s I should be OK??
  20. just my 2 cents.....youd be better off finding a turbo car with a blown head gasket or other engine probs and switching the XT engine into it. Should be very easy to find one of those cheap.
  21. eerrrrrr... ummm....Justy beautiful? now c'mon I love's me a subaru but BEAUTIFUL is not even close. Cute perhaps, nice even if you shined it up but beautiful!? Put the bong down, Justy could never be called beautiful. Best looking Sub is a silver 2dr RS and even that can't be called 'beautiful', just sexy. Sorry Subaru, I love you but beautiful you aint. live with it
  22. I swear I remember that the stock antenna plug on the radio side did not fit the standard modern plug to my new radio which is one reason I still dont have FM reception. Some one will correct me if I am wrong im sure. my car is a 87 rx.
  23. please stand up if your not looking for more power:burnout:
  24. Thanks for the input, I am leaning towards getting a JDM (800 delivered) because it should be much fewer miles and I already have the seals and t-belts. The wagon looks like a great option too, and studs as a bonus! Would you replace the HG on a JDM or just seal it and go? Thx again.
