  1. The carter weber you are currently running is a feedback ( ECS controlled ) one barrel carb. The Weber should if tuned properly will get the similar mileage to the one barrel you are using as long as you keep outta the skinny pedal. I have been in the process of the same swap and I did have to get a hitachi intake to do it. I am still not done but I have AC stuff and other crud I have no idea what to do with.. So I am not the best source for info but I can tell you what I do know.. I believe vin 5 is hitachi and 4 is the one barrel feedback carter/weber. I may have them backwards but one way or another thats pretty much it the carb. I did not have a problem with cold weather start so I cannot say there may be other options to resolve that issue but as far as I am concerned the 32/36 is an upgrade for both mileage and performance. I would see what can be done to alleviate that issue until you actually have problems with the carb. Then do the swap but I may be influenced by my inability to get my own swap running. Mike
  2. The difference between vin 4 and 5 is the carb mostly. One is the hitachi and the other is Carter/Weber aka feedback carb. The water pump looks the same on all my cars and have both vin codes. The oil pump difference is none, it is a matter of idiot light and guage one mounts horizontally and the other is vertical. The gauge type will plug in from the bottom and the other to the left side if looking at it from the front of the car. If say your other pump has the plug that fits the side and need it from the bottom remove the bolt and put it into the other hole change the switch and your done.
  3. Ok so some progress.. not much though. I still need to plug the tubes coming from the heads and I have a lot more crap under the hood that needs to be plugged or removed but that is difficult to sort at least for me. The Fuel pump works so I tried improving the ground ( added a ground wire and tapped existing. ) That did not fix it so will be running a more permanent solution through the car via relay, My temporary fix is wires taped to the battery down the fender and back to the pump which works but looks extremely ghetto. I think once I get the stuff under the hood worked out my high idle will probably go away. It won't idle under 3500 RPM. I miss driving my car the mileage is awesome.
  4. That thought has afflicted a few members in the past. Some have done so repeatedly and needed a new job after the show.. I think its worth it but I cannot afford to get another job anytime soon.
  5. I believe the seat needs to be at the correct angle and I don't recall if it pulled straight out or one side then the other but I think that was how I got it out of the wagon I had.
  6. They simply unbolt I do not remember exactly whats up with the backrest portion but there is a hinge under the front side of the seat. Really simple should take all of 5 minutes. I know because I had a parts car that I wanted to see if I could make that part fit in my hatch..Not gonna happen without getting creative.
  7. You will be held to that! under penalty of
  8. That was a lot of Roo. The song was odd and not really my flavor but I would play it in my car. As long as it was loud enough to annoy others.
  9. It would help to know what car you have year and whether it is fuel injected or carbed and possibly type of carb.
  10. I with you on that.. I have discovered I like sedans quite a lot. I don't think I need the 3.0 though and I may have to give up a car or two for a GT.. Wifey likes em too so it wont be a big problem.
  11. Agreed. Besides, there are better instructions here on about 6 different threads that I have found recently ( in the last week)
  12. Yes.. you can get the parts or the kit from carbsunlimited they are local and online
  13. I am trying to have more than one sube this year..I spent a year or two with a rotten support vehicle ( read dodge pickup). I am getting there still fighting the time and money at the same time problems.
  14. I am not still thinking of blowing it up anymore ...still flustered though. I mentioned exhaust leak when I meant vacuum leak. Heads were done not long ago so they aren't the culprit but when I do run the car the exhaust is whitish and doesn't smell of coolant to me but my sniffer is not what it used to be. I need to solder or add terminals to my fan because I did not route it correctly and the power steering belt ripped them apart. I don't think I need to fab a holder for the throttle cable ( right now ) it is at an angle but does not bind so for the interim I will go with it. I do need to bend the linkage a bit because the idle speed screw doesn't touch the linkage after the screw has been turned all the way in. So hopefully tomorrow I will have some sun to get a few more things knocked off my to do list. Then to figure out why my temp gauge decided to not to work after the weber swap.
  15. finally got back to playing with it.. aside from I need to fab up a different throttle cable holder ( doesn't allow the return spring to completely return) I can't seem to get the carb to tune.. So I need to see if or where the exhaust leak is. engine is warm not hot but the gauge did not move. I am thinking 1 stick of dynomite should do. give me a few days and I may reconsider.. just darn frustrating when a weekend job takes weeks.
  16. Lookin good Brian..It should get a lot of attention, and maybe fun to drive too I suppose:drunk:
  17. I like it! makes me want two. one for the street and one to play in.
  18. Slowly making a little progress. Ok so recruited my wife turn the key and crank and I have power but the pump seems to be resistant to work with me. I have power Yay! but no pump unless I pull the fuse and replace it to make it cycle again. So now to see if I have a working pump laying around waiting for work. 15 minutes later..Found one. Some crap different pump:dead: I will swap fpcu at some point but for now I will wire it to acc power
  19. Just a thought since I did the swap and got rid of the feedback carb might that have something to do with the fuel pump not getting power? I dunno just trying to cover all the bases.
  20. Turbone did a Thrush muffler for me last year. It is really quiet but when you can hear it it has a very low tone. I like it but almost wish it was a little louder.. Nah! I should quit perusing the board and go find where I am losing power to the fuel pump on that car. Mike
  21. I love the Idea Jeszek! I do also agree that it is not a viable option for an emergency brake and should still have the mechanical hand brake with it.
  22. Does anyone know which wire is positive and which is supposed to be negative.. I have no power at all and cannot check due to needing to be two places at once. I suppose I could run a jumper from the battery on the hot side to see which is the ground.. After I go run my errands. Mike
  23. Update! Ok I was checking things out and decided to check the fuses again I pulled the fuel/coil fuse and the pump cycled for a sec then put it back in and it cycled again. It was suggested that I check the ground but if I have no power back there ( I checked ) how am I supposed to check the ground. I am really lost
